Great for organizing!

Eve Hill August 14, 2020

Im a year round x-mas shopper. An active ebay seller. An active FB BST seller too. So I always have A TON of stuff taking up my "catch all" room. Finding stuff can be very daunting sometimes. These boxes really helped me get organized. They take like 30 seconds to assemble (including the lid). They can carry quite a bit of weight too. I was surprised when I filled one with boxes upon boxes of body wash, perfume, etc. It was heavy to pick up but the box never felt like it was going to give way even for a moment. The handles didn't rip like some brands do. Im very impressed. They stack nicely as well. I've included a before and after pic of just one area I organized with these boxes. If that doesn't impress you I don't know what will. Lol. I just feel better looking at that space now.

Quick Easy to put together

To August 23, 2020

My first time actually putting together this particular type of file box and it took less than 4 minutes. These will be great to help keep my kids school work organized and store the memorable stuff that I will be keeping. The material seems like a reasonable quality cardboard that I hope/expect to last for light/moderate items. I have only used these for less than a week so I don’t know how long they will last, but I think many years if handled and used within reason. It fits exact for hanging style files. These will help me get organized with paper items I must keep. I recommend if you need some help organizing

Sort, Organize, and Store Tons of Stuff!

HappyHome August 24, 2020

Love these Pen & Gear Simple Setup storage boxes! I got the 10 box set and am so glad I did! These boxes are very easy to set up. The folding instructions are printed on the bottom of the boxes. For the body of the box, simply pull open the sides and push down the bottom. The instructions then say to fold down the A flaps and then the B flaps, to lock the sides in place. I actually found that folding the B flaps first then the A flaps creates for a tighter fit and makes the inside corner edges lock in a neater angle. Then, just push the carrying handle slots inward. The lids are just as easy to setup: you bend along all the designated lines, then fold the long sides in (make sure the tabs go into the open slots), and then fold the short sides over (again, make sure these tabs go into the open slots as well). Super easy! I had my 7 and 9 year old kids help me and they thought these boxes were very fun to set up. I would say these boxes are a medium duty. You can definitely fill them with files and papers and they'll hold up nicely. I used them to store 5 kids worth of homeschool papers, projects, workbooks, kids drawings, etc. I would not recommend storing bigger books in these. They will definitely fall apart if filled with heavy books (like high school textbooks for example), but paperback books should be fine. Also keep in mind that these are not air tight, so bugs, dust, moisture, household smells, etc. will easily enter through the handle slots. Still, for temporary indoor storage, these are a perfect solution. In my situation, I had an office filled with disorganized piles (and piles!) of several years worth of my children's work. I laid the open boxes in a row, and labeled them with each kids name. I also had a few boxes with other labels for things I knew I would come across in my mess (important documents, shred, trash, cards/mementos, etc.) These boxes were perfect for organizing the chaos! I plan to go through each box again and organize the papers by category (tests, artwork, projects, etc.) but for now, these boxes helped me turn a room full of huge paper mountains, into an organized file box system. Now I can find things so much easier! I would also recommend these boxes for craft storage, office supplies, christmas decorations, knitting or sewing items, etc. The boxes stack up nicely (I stacked my boxes in 2 stacks of 5 boxes), without collapsing or bending at all. I would highly recommend these boxes to any mom, especially a homeschooling mom, or a mom with multiple kiddos who bless us with their drawings, artwork, and craft projects! These boxes would also make an excellent, quick solution for moving your office files, papers, and other items from one room/apartment/house to another! No matter what you use these storage boxes for, keep in mind that they are excellent for short-term (up to a couple years), indoor only, sorting and storage! Thick, Sturdy

Anonymous September 29, 2024

Strong and sturdy. Bought these for my rabbit who is so darn picky. He only wants cardboard for a bed. The expensive, actual pet beds I bought got destroyed. So this involves some cutting, which wasn't easy as cutting through recycled cardboard. So, I'd imagine, these would be very durable for file holders. He likes em 🤷‍♀️

better than ever expected for a small move of clothing, boxes were and are still sturdy and didn't have to break anyone's arms lifting those hugh moving boxes.

Great box for light weight items...

Alabamabelle August 21, 2020

I have now used a couple of these boxes for a couple of different type items. The one you see in the picture is one that I used to store some random craft items that were piled up in my spare room. For light weight items, like the crafting items that I put in the box, the Pen+Gear Simple Setup Storage box is great. I filled another one with books and that was a fail because the bottom of the box sagged from the books weight. So don't overdo it with heavy items and all will be well.

Not an improvement Stick to the originals!

Mjowest September 15, 2020

Stick to the original bankers boxes! The bottoms of these are supposed to make it easier to put them together, but unless you're moving feathers or pillows, the bottoms don't hold a lot of weight without it bowing...

Good storage boxes for small or light items

DanaCee August 14, 2020

In an effort to reorganize my entire life in downtime during the pandemic, I decided to reorganize all of my closets. These boxes are helpful with the smaller and lighter things I need organized, like papers or my toddler sons out of season clothing, small toys, etc.) The tops didn't fit on the boxes as well as they probably should. I found that folding the flap on the box with the handle over on the outside then putting the top on secured it a little bit better. I also like the lines on the outside of the box so you can label each box legibly. These boxes would also be helpful when moving.

Cheaper, but lower-quality, than other brands

Mark October 13, 2020

In the past I used boxes from Weyerhauser or Bankers Box. Compared to those, these Pen Gear boxes are much less durable - thinner cardboard, single-thickness sides and floor compared to double...not suitable for storing heavy items, for stacking, or for moving around very much. Also, the floor is not flat, which is annoying. I will use these in a few places where durability is not important, but I will be switching to other brands mostly, even though the others cost almost twice as much.

Will not do what it was "designed" to

MzBovine July 3, 2024

the bottom assembles different than any bankers box I've seen, and will not hold the weight of files (or much else), even when reinforced with shipping tape. I already returned them, or ai would take a picture.
