I love the design and the ease of filling the feeder but I have gotten two broken ones shipped to me in a row. I think there might need to be a better way to send it than flopping around in a big box... maybe it should be wrapped or cushioned. The redwood roof on the feeder has come to me cracked twice in a row now. And the second one was to replace the first one!! I would use them but the large crack will let in rain and bugs and ruin both the feed and the cleanliness for the birds
Decent size bird feeder (which means I don't have to fill it EVERY day). I think it was meant for smaller birds, but I still see larger birds (Cardinals) frequently feeding from it, so I know they have enough room to perch and eat (even if it looks like a bit of a tight squeeze). I like how the clear plastic slides out - it not only makes the plastic easy to clean, but gives you the option of leaving them out and transforming the feeder into a platform feeder. The wood is treated to withstand all weather conditions. Durable enough to hold a full tank of food, 5-6 inches of snow on top, birds, and the occasional squirrel - showing no signs of stress. I'm not worried about this breaking or molding, anytime soon.
Just stapled (not well at that). Was wobbly when I took it out of the box! I put in a couple of screws too make it a bit more sturdy, it is easy to fill looks nice, birds love it. The first one lasted about a year. I love everything about it except the quality of assembly!
I always used this type feeder before, but had them so long they just wore out. Say this and got one, seems smaller than they were before, and the design is a little different. The perch on both sides is tiny, like finch only tiny, bluebirds, woodpecker etc want fit, had to modify it to have more leg room for larger birds. Its a nice looking little feeder in red cedar but had hoped for a little better function, if you have finch its fine but if not be ready to add a place for the birst to land and eat
It is a quality bird feeder except that the birds have nowhere to stand while feeding. I thought the ledge looked large enough in the picture, but it was deceiving. It's actually only about one inch, which isn't big enough for the larger birds (blue jays, cardinals, morning doves, etc.) to stand on and feed. I would not recommend this feeder.
I received the bird feeder very excited to put it outside. Unfortunately, I couldn't. The roof was broken and split at the seam and one of the plastic shields to fold the bird food in wasn't even there. It was no more than kindling wood. I'm disabled and do my shopping online. After this experience I may have to shop elsewhere and not Walmart.
I have this kind of feeder for very long time . It has excellent appearance, very sturdy, and I liked it very much. All other different varieties, did not last. But this one is . That is why I decided to buy another one similar to it. Boy, how I was wrong! The one came today not even remotely close in appearance, and already came with broken roof. Flimsy made , not recommended. Sigh..
I had this bird feeder delivered (in person) feom Walmart, and it was missing the two plastic sides that keep the birdseed in r H e feeder! I have called and texted the delivery person and have not received a return phonecall! Very disappointed in the delivery person as he or she should have seen this from th w get-go!
The manufacturer sent a defective item. The staples used split the wood leaving the item structurally unsound. Anyone whoever had shop class, knows that you run the risk of splitting the wood without a pilot hole. What ever happened to quality control?
When item arrived and was taken out of the box the top of the feeder was falling apart and the side peace's were loose. I fixed the top part using wood glue and some brad nails. Fixed the sides with brad nails too. if the feeder had been assembled properly it would have been a great buy. Sorry that I didn't take any pictures before fixing.
