I've had a Traeger and Green Mountain pellet grills and this grill is every bit as good for a lot less. The life span of any grill is an average of 5 years, so I was sick of spending upwards of a thousand when they all have same relative life span. This grill did not disappoint
I am really loving this combo grill! I have used both the pellet and the charcoal grill separately and both at the same time! in pellet mode I add a few briquets and wood chips to kettle for more smoke and over fire grilling/searing you just can't get with most pellet grills! works great! Also like that all the accessories for weber 22 in. will fit the phoenix. check out onlyfire rotisserie. fits perfect and half price of weber!
You get good sear at 375F what else you want from a Pellet Grill. love the pellet side of it so havent used the charcoal much. Holds the temperature good even in windy cold weather in Indiana. We had gust wind about 55 miles and I was grilling at 400F. it dropped to 360F and climbed back up to 400F in 2 minutes after closing the Lid. Installation was kind of a pain but it is okay. I love the grill so far.
Hard to call it one thing because this thing does everything smoke bake dehydrate you name it, it does it. Only drawback is the temp probe is not Bluetooth or wireless but that's definitely not a deal breaker. I've always loved the kettle grills and now that pit boss has a pellet version is a great thing.
Works amazing and I got the rotisserie for it off of Amazon
The first pit boss Phoenix was delivered, cost $347.00 plus tax "on sale", unassembled, after I get the base assembled I lifted the kettle portion on and screwed it down. There is a huge dent in the front of the kettle. After being on the phone for several minutes with a fake human I finally get a real human who is often hard to understand we agree that Walmart will pick the Pit Boss up and that I will hear from EFW, the pick up company, in a few days, that didn't happen so I called EFW, they haven't heard from Walmart yet. The charge has been placed against my credit card. I have disputed the charge. Is there any chance in the world I could get some real help on this return? Two days ago I'm in Walmart and I see the same grill, ASSEMBLED, FOR 259.00 PLUS TAX. I bought one, get it home and the paperwork that comes with it is wet, I hope it works.
Love the concept of the grill, but have had it for two weeks and it's only worked once. Smoke keeps traveling back up through the pellet hopper in charcoal mode. Pit Boss customer service has been good so far, but still waiting on a response from their leadership team about replacement.
Went to use my brand new pellet grill. First thing I get an error code at first plug in, only stays on for a second literally a second it took me 15 min to figure out I had a error code and what it was. All the wiring inside of control area are super tight you can not move anything had to cut zip ties so I could get control panel off of the grill. What a pc of crap literally a pc of crap.
Terrible I loved the grill when it worked and it made it 2 weeks maybe 4 cooks and been broke since and I will never buy pit boss again. Do not buy unless your like having a broke grill and not cooking. Waited week and half out boss sent an igniter and still same problem. Blows fuse at power up and pit boss won't send a new grill. Buyer beware. I got a master built that only thing wrong it tornado damage and it still works so I recommend sticking with better brands lesson learned. If I keep waiting on pit boss my return window will be out and stuck with it so it's going back for refund
This being exactly what I was looking for, I was excited to get cooking on it. First three grills (2 pellet, 1 charcoal) were wonderful. Done between Feb-Mar. Cleaned the grill soon as it cooled, stored with cover, because we were trying to maximize its life. The 4th time (and every time since, regardless of fuel type), smoke billowed out the hopper. No smoke in the kettle at all. I have contacted support a dozen times (phone and video) each giving me different instructions and guidance, using the excuse that "it's a new model". I have taken it apart, cleaned the auger tube to pristine, same issue occurs. So it's basically useless now. I intend to utilize my warranty as it's past the return window. Hopefully I can get something else. Another thing, the kettle, charcoal tray, and the flame tamer all rusted after the first use. They look like I've used this grill for years and didn't care for it. Customer service has nothing to say about that either
