Oklahoma Joe's® Halftime XL Charcoal Starter

This is definitely larger than the Weber chimney I own. Love the Weber. Worked perfectly for my portable grills. Set up my barrel grill and knew I needed to be able have more coals ready. I did not want to pay the price, but after reading the reviews across platforms, I did and don't regret it! Walmart had the lowest price too! I can use both together to fill the bottom grate of the barrel grill for the amount of time I need for chicken, chops, burgers and hot dogs. Used 2 of the Tumbleweed starters under this chimney without lighter fluid and had hot coals in less than 15 minutes! Looking forward to more grilling made easy!

I've been using Weber chimneys for year and always liked them, but this guy is phenomenal! It's twice the size and holds more than enough for my Judge. Have had no problems yet but it looks and feels sturdy enough for years of use. Both it and the Judge will probably out live me.

I bought this charcoal starter after my last non-OKJ one fell apart, and I am so glad I did! This thing gets coals ready in a snap! With a wide diameter and plenty of air flow all around, your charcoal will be hot and ready faster than you can imagine. I have an Oklahoma Joe 3-in-1 grill, and this thing fits right on the side burner, so that is also very convenient. Very satisfied so far.

I purchased my Oklahoma Joe’s Longhorn smoker/propane grill with the side stove burner. It has been a long time since I’ve used charcoal and lately, I’ve been using natural wood charcoal. With the Halftime XL Charcoal Starter, the effort I always hated in starting a fire has been removed. Place your charcoal in the fire cage and place it on top of the side burner. I’m not exaggerating when I say within 10 minutes, you are ready to grill. I love this product and recommend it to everyone.

This is a game changer on bbq/grilling days and nights. I prefer to use chunk charcoal because they get very hot and they burn for quite a bit longer than the small square type. The addition of so much more ventilation gets the large and heavy charcoal pieces of wood. Another is the size, very low kind of squat and the diameter opening is perfect for the large charcoal.

I had one before and left it at the home I moved from by accident, so I bought another different brand… I was not happy with it so I bought the Oklahoma Joe’s XL halftime and its great… holds just the right amount of charcoal for my pit… the best one on the market for my money !!!

Not too surprised at the quality from Oklahoma Joe’s. This charcoal starter is very large and brings the charcoal up to cooking temps quickly.

This Oklahoma Joe's Halftime XL charcoal chimney failed during its very first use. While it was holding a full load of burning charcoal, the bottom grate detached and dumped the hot coals onto the concrete. The concentrated heat damaged the concrete, causing the surface to crack, crumble, and break apart. This created a serious fire and burn hazard. A charcoal chimney should never fail like this, especially on the first use. I received a refund, but I cannot recommend this product because the failure was dangerous and caused property damage.
