I didn't know the difference between cocktail peanuts and regular peanuts. Apparently cocktail peanuts are roasted in peanut oil. Here's the definition from Planters: "Cocktail peanuts are roasted in oil, giving them a rich, smooth flavor. Dry roasted peanuts are seasoned without oil and typically use ingredients like gelatin to help spices adhere to the nut surface." This is great because it results in a really rich and savory peanut that is easy to eat on it's own but also fabulous to cook with. We used these to prepare an Indian peanut chaat snack and the richness of the nut really complemented the bright flavors of onion, coriander, and tomato. While I didn't like these because they tasted too plain my entire family did. They said they were nice and soft, not stale and had a good subtle flavor that kept them coming back for more. I think my thing was that they were too plain and didn't have enough salt for me but I think that's maybe part of their selling point if you were going to serve these with a set of drinks or as a small snack item. They're fresh and I'd definitely buy them for those around me

These “Cocktail Peanuts” are not the same quality as the Cocktail Peanuts in the smaller cans. These peanuts are ~20% smaller with a lot of skins than the canned peanuts. The taste is similar. There are little savings in buying this larger size … $.1646 vs. $.1675 per ounce at my local Walmart.

Received my order and the Planters Peanuts had already been opened! The protective aluminum seal looked as though someone had put their FIST through it!! I was so disappointed!! We had to throw the entire jar away! We emailed Walmart and NEVER received a reply!!! So disappointed

The package arrived opened. The top was unscrewed and the foil covering was torn away as if someone ate some then put the item in the box to be shipped!
