Pleasant Hearth L-20W Electric Crackling firelog

Up close, we preferred other brands, but when we put it inside our wood burning fireplace, we adored it!!!!!! (Note: we bought and compared four different makers!) The simple mechanism for making the light and sound makes it the most realistic and the easiest maintenance! It cast the best, brightest, most realistic flame flicker. And the sound was soothing and subtle. Not like the tin can sound of all the others! It's WONDERFUL! Half the time, I feel like it's actually on fire, but when I check it is cool to the touch--the light just dances and casts shadows like a real flame! We added a few pieces of small twigs to enhance the look, because the middle piece is plastic, through which you can see some of the light. A few tiny branch tips in front just gives the illusion that the flame is just behind them, and adds yet another layer of realistic shadow pattern. Love love love this thing! U HAVE to try it in the space where you will actually use it--don't judge at first glance. (By the way, this fit perfectly in our existing grate--we didn't need the similar product that comes with a grate.) So lovely I even feel like there's heat coming off it it when there's not! LOL! Nice psychological effect!

I am very happy with this purchase. I was initially disappointed because the online description said that it came with a cast iron grate. When I got the box it clearly stated that a grate was not included. Fortunately once I got the product inside my fireplace I saw that a grate was not necessary. It looks real and is actually beautiful when I turn it on. I am so glad that I found this item and it was very reasonably priced.

I was pleased with the logs size of 20" &they fit well in my fireplace. They looked real behind my screen and the flickering was realistic as well. It creates the atmosphere I want without the mess of the real logs and cleanup. Friends said they look good too.

It really looks like a real fire burning. I purchased another one for my sister for Christmas. I placed gems with a variety of different colors, the gems reflect off the light it looks beautiful. You may use fireplace reflective glass but the gems worked just fine.

I was very pleased with this fake fire. It worked right out of the box and it provided a nice atmosphere in my wife's kindergarten classroom. We built a fake fire place years ago but this made it complete.

It looks so real that when my daughter came to pick me up and take me shopping she asked me if I was going to put the fire out in the fireplace first. I love it!

Came on time ,Picked up at store. Didn't come with grate but I already knew that. Didn't look like much out of the box. My old Ben Franklin wood burner is a lot of trouble to use and I considered a gas conversion insert for it. Too much trouble this late in the year. I pulled the logs off grate and put the electric crackling logs on. Didn't bother to clean out the fire place. Ash and cinders adds to the effect. yes it looks like a gas log set up. my friend said it felt warmer after I turned it on. I added a remote controller to the plug outlet to complete the project. I gave it four stars because it did not have a grate as in the ad. Looks great with the Christmas tree. Looks real.

I wasn't expecting much from this item, so it delivered far beyond my expectations. I placed it inside my brick fireplace with natural logs around and a few crystals underneath to reflect the light and it looks and sounds so authentic I often expect to feel heat radiating out from the logs. :) Love it! I placed it on a timer so it automatically sets a warm ambiance in my family room each night. Amazing...

Item works great but it was damaged when I took it from the box. There was a crack in the fire but I repaired it with high temperature tape from the inside. I was going to return it but the return process was extremely long. I couldn't have ordered another one then took the broken one back to Walmart fast then the return process.

Okay Okay, so its a tacky fake log. But it's really quite wonderful! It looks authentic and it even flickers and hisses. The crackling sound it should make is very faint-that's my only misgiving. But it lends a wonderful atmosphere to the fireplace and room and it is amazingly charming. It is quite large, though, so make sure you have a large enough fireplace mantel to support it.
