These pencils & sharpener, plus an 'Adult Coloring Book" .. All were a present for a senior citizen confined to wheelchair. She was overwhelmed, gave her hours of relaxation and fun coloring in the many pictures. I can't believe something as inexpensive as these pencils and adult coloring book ( also purchased from Walmarts) could so much joy to this chair bound person.
So I bought these coloring pencils for my grandson and he loves them. I find myself coloring with him because I love all the different colors it offer us.
This is an adults perspective. My mother bought me a set at least 15-20 yrs ago. It has sketch pencils included. A very nice hard case that can expand to stand up on its own. About 110 pieces all together. I was 100% that kid who wouldn't allow anyone to use my art supplies. Even through high school I had a pouch of pencils and pens specifically to lend out. Because I didn't care if they were given back or destroyed. Fast forward to now. I haven't had the time or motivation for coloring for several years. but recently got a new tattoo and I have time off work. Though color will be decided later, I wanted to play around with the design. For some reason I had a pack of like 70 pencils in a wide range of color and brought those out. Immediately they were packed away. Impossible to vary saturation or blend, dull color, not impressed. I pulled out my Prang set and remembered why Ive kept them for 20ish years. Unbelievably smooth, a single pencil can achieve countless shades depending on pressure. Durable (again, these are old), and for gradient color I'm not sure you could make it better. I've gotten into reviews lately and wanted to express my delight.
I live these for coloring the adult color books. Eau to sharpen, the lead doesn't break.other brands I have used broke on sharpening. The colors don't bleed into each other and are vibrant. Of all the brands I have used, these exceed expectations.
My daughter is autistic. Colored markers are more of a hassle. She seems less likely to color everything in sight, (when I am not in sight). Also, I do not have to go through and discard the used up ones, and replace the right color caps. They seem easier for her to color her new adult coloring book that my son bought for her.
These pencils are very much like prismacolor, but stronger. The colors are vivid and blend well. Great value too!!
These are very nice pencils. The only thing I did not like about them is the color effect is muted. If you like a really pastel "look," these are your pencils. If the colors had been a little more vibrant, I would have given them 5 stars.
Just recently got into coloring books, and bought the Prang colored pencils. Thought since they were more expensive that they'd be better quality. Nope. Didn't realize that until later when I bought the cheaper Crayola brand so I'd have more color choices. The difference is remarkable. These pencils scratch the paper, and you need to go over it a few times to get a consistent coverage. I mixed both brands together in a box, but later removed the Prang because the quality was so much less. Guess the more expensive isn't always the best. At least that's my opinion.
I should have believed the other review. I ordered several packs of 24 colored pencils and when I opened the box there were pencils rolling around from the torn boxes. I ordered the 36 boxes also. That was fun trying to match them up to correct box.
This box of pencils arrived in a ripped and torn box. Looked like someone found it in a sale bin. I was appalled
