I was nervous at first because it doesn't have a temperature dial, but it's really not necessary. it heats up evenly in about 10 minutes and maintains heat without burning. it fries evenly. i loved that the outer walls are thin on this. it makes pouring oil/soapy water out very easy without spillage! it also has a lid to keep debris out if you are going to reuse your oil.
I bought this one to replace the one I bought in 2000. It works just like the old one. Heats up super fast. Cooks thoroughly, and my food was crispy! It doesn't take up any room on my counter because I can store it away. I cook for 3 adults, so no need for a large fryer. I don't fry large pieces either. I'm hooked.
My old FryDaddy conked out, so I bought me a new one. My old one was around 26 years old. I got a lot of use out of it. I fried french fries, onion rings, homemade french fries, tater tots, and chicken strips and chicken nuggets in it. I even fried fish in it a couple times. I would not recommend cooking fish or seafood in them though. After cooking fish or seafood in it, anything you cook after will taste and smell like fish or seafood. It will make the oil smell and taste bad.
thing works perfect. just oil gets around a lot cuz there's not a basket to pick up and pull out of there. you got to scoop ladle that still drips oil around so just have an extra paper towel for it to sit on after you you whatever you're frying out while you're putting more in.
It was so easy to use. I've gave the basket one star because mines didn't have a basket. It doesn't come with a basket, but anyway it fits just the right amount that I can take care of in the oil. It only takes that much oil to do a whole bunch of fries I just simply love it. Wash up is easy storing as easy. I recommended to all the seniors that are still cooking like me makes life easier.
We love our fry daddy. We had a fry baby years ago and our kids used it till they left home. I use Avocado oil in it It's easy to drain and strain to reuse the oil. It wipes out easily and a little Dawn cleans it up easily. Be careful dont immerse in water. But I can easily clean it and store it. LOVE the new improved lid on the FryDaddy compared to what was on the old Frybaby
Since purchasing the Presto FryDaddy Electric Deep Fryer, I stay in the kitchen more thinking of new foods to fix in it. It reaches the perfect temperature and I don't have to worry about it overheating. Very easy to use and clean up is a breeze! I live alone and it is perfect for one person, however, I do make extras for snacks later in the day. Love the spatula that comes with it too. It is the handiest thing I have in my kitchen right now!
I bought it mainly for french fries It works so well i had to buy an electric french fry cutter Because i use it about every other day It says it takes several minutes to heat up I found it takes only 2-3 min to heat Fries turn dark in color. And tastes great
i bought this ɓecause my spouse wanted a "bloomin onion." It worked perfectly. If you have a family of more than 2. you might want to consider a larger unit. I've fried doughnuts, beignets, egg rolls. French fries, and fish. All of which have turned out successfully.
The Fry Daddy is disappointing. There is no light to indicate when frying temperature is reached. Instructions say to preheat for 12 minutes. After frying a small batch, there is no light to indicate when the oil has reheated enough to fry again. I knew it would hold only a few cups of oil, which is what I wanted. I did not know it would have zero indicator lights. I used a thermometer,, and oil temperature during use ranged from 350° to 450°. Is there no thermostat at all?
