I have been using this dvd player in my truck for a few weeks now and it has been such a pleasure to travel with. It comes with two monitors as well as two straps to mount them to the back of the headrests. The straps stay snug around the bars and don’t shift during travel. One monitor is the actual DVD player and the other one mirrors what is playing via the included cable. Setup was rather easy and even though it doesn’t come with a remote, the buttons are easy to navigate and playback is quick. I can even restart from where we left off once the truck is back on and the devices are powered back on. It comes with the needed power plug that connected just fine to the console in the rear of my truck. The LCD screens are the perfect size to where all the kids can watch without fighting. The dvds are easy to change out and so far after many weeks and lots of travel it has held up to thousand of miles and 5 kids that love to argue over the next movie. It’s been fun for the whole family and saves a lot of headaches on the road. Truly does help to keep us all relaxed and safe.
This Proscan 7 Dual Portable DVD Player has two 7” screens. It comes with a DC power cable plus an AC power cable. The power input jack is somewhat difficult to determine. It also has headphone jacks (one for each unit) and jacks to connect the audio/video from the first unit to the second. These jacks are also difficult to determine. I may color-code the jacks to make it easier to identify what goes where. On my first attempt I needed to use a 10X magnifier and a bright light to determine what goes where. After connecting and disconnecting the system a few times it became much easier to get the wires into the correct holes. There is a sliding switch at the top on the primary, thicker unit that opens the DVD player in order to insert a disc. I was unable to find the correct format choice in order to play an old Pan and Scan movie recording. It would only show it in letterbox so the picture is stretched out and out of the proper proportion. Another review said that if the unit is turned off or the power is disconnected that the unit will lose it’s place in the movie and you have to start over from the beginning. This is not correct—if the unit is set to “Last Memory” it will remember where you left off. The labels on the front of the units are, at first, misleading. “Left” is used for navigating the menus for Function and Setup and the Menu List for choosing the video you want to watch. It is also used as the “Rewind” button. “Right” is also used as the “Fast Forward” button. I have never come across this before on any player of any kind. “OK” is also used as the “Pause” button. I may decide to add my own labels so it will be easier for the kids in the back seat to control the player. There is a headphone jack on each unit for one set of headphones, ie, two viewers/listeners. If there are three kids in the back seat then the only choice is to use the built-in speakers, which are adequate while sitting in the driveway with the engine off but might not be quite loud enough on a busy freeway. When I requested this DVD player it said that it has Bluetooth capability. At first I thought perhaps it could use Bluetooth headphones or earbuds but there is no place to make such a selection in Setup. Then I thought perhaps the two units could be used as stereo Bluetooth speakers so I attempted to pair it with my tablet but no new devices showed up to pair with. The instructions do not make any mention of Bluetooth. The original information about the unit is no longer available to me so I cannot confirm what I read. The picture quality on a color, letterbox movie is quite good, but of course tilting the screens up or down can have an impact upon the contrast so they need to be placed in just the right spot, depending upon the height of the viewer. When I attached the units to the headrests on my car I found it somewhat difficult to get the straps tight so personally, I would prefer a different type of buckle on the straps. On my particular car seats it is best to have the units setting upon the plastic, locking post supports in order to get the screens to point slightly downward, which gives shorter passengers a better view of the screens.
I purchased this set in November 2025 to utilize on long car rides with my two young children. Over the past few months, I used this DVD player only 6 times (repacking the monitors in between uses so they did not sit in the car's extreme temperatures) and am disappointed that they stopped working. They will not read a DVD anymore and I troubleshooted by trying multiple DVDs that I tested in other devices to ensure they work. These were great for the times they worked, but not worth the money to only get 6 uses.
It's always glitches. One minute It's fine, next no video or audio. Sometimes I turn it on, and it's just a blue screen. I know it's not the disc as it's brand new
I thought it would be great to have a DVD player since I still have DVDs but can't really find a player. Positive: lightweight and handheld. Negative: Although this comes with 2 players, they have to be connected to one another with lots of cords, even though I have been working with computers and used to own a VCR, I could not figure out how to turn the DVD on and didn't have time to fuss with it. Great for someone who has lots of DVDs and the time to figure out how it works.
only one of the screens worked. super bummed bought it for a road trip for the kids. one screen worked great but the other screen had a loud buzzing and incredibly poor screen quality with lines through it could barely even see what was on the screen. don't recommend
it was broke and not able to use after 2 days of having it I spent 75 dollars on this for nothing and am very disappointed Walmart didn't even offer to replace or give me a gift card so I could buy a different brand this was a very disappointing buy
If you're going to spend money on a set then pay the extra for better quality screen with actual buttons.
Stopped working after a couple of uses.
we bought it for my nephew and as soon as we opened them they was broken
