I absolutely love the Protege Rolling Backpack! It is made with high quality material so it is definitely rugged and can take a beating. There is so much room in this backpack, it could be used as a carry-on for a short trip, for a busy high schooler or even to bring up groceries if you live in an apartment. There are several compartments that will keep your items well organized. I like that you can use as an everyday backpack or, if you load it up and it gets heavy, you pull out the handle and it rolls. Love it!! I always say, when a product offers a 5 year warranty, it's high quality. I also like that the roller handle has a compartment that zips up so it doesn't get in the way when you use it as a backpack. The rollers are sturdy and don't get stuck in cracks, on stairs or rocks. My family takes several small trips per year and this is favorite backpack. I will be using the Protege Backpack every day. I will definitely recommend it to friends and family!
The Protege 22-inch Rolling Backpack is the perfect traveling companion I have encountered so far. Made from a rip-stop like material, the bag seems to be very sturdy given this material. It is pretty much like a school laptop backpack but it also has rollers, so it is a very versatile bag. The bag can be opened all the way just like any ordinary piece of luggage, so you can put overnight clothes in it. Also, it has a pocket inside wherein you can insert a medium sized laptop or whatever folder you may need to carry. On the front are two zippered pockets to put accessories or what have you. And on the sides are also two zippered pockets to store whatever you need to be stored. As mentioned in the description, this is a rolling backpack meaning it is foremost a backpack as I have described. But you can also convert this to a rolling piece of luggage if you find it to heavy to lug around especially at airports or railroad stations. The backpack stays can be hidden and then you can unhide the handle to convert it to a a rolling bag. I have not yet tested this in real life as I still have to make my travel plans this summer. But definitely, this piece of luggage is going with me. I would highly recommend this bag.
First of all this backpack is very lightweight, has a lot of pockets, one on each side (super tall) pocket that would easily fit a bottle of water. Two pockets on the front (the top is smaller and would fit a phone perfectly) the bag overall is trendy and can be used by a male or a female, however i think it suits a guy better. The inside is very spacious (see my picture) has a space for a laptop which is padded (the laptop compartment is not in the back of the bag but the front not sure if it makes a difference to anyone but thought i would mention, and im guessing the reason is better protection due to handle being in the back). As far as the handle goes, it is sturdy and well made. Seems to withstand heavy items. It has one pair of wheels in the back and at first i thought it doesn't stand on its own, but it was because it was empty, as soon as i filled it up it stood on its own without needing to support it. Overall, i think it will go with us on lots of trips. :) if only covid will not interfere ;)
When packed heavy, you can unzip the little compartment on top to extend the telescoping handle and use it as a 'pull-behind' roller bag. If you're packed on the lighter side or just need your hands free, strap it on as a backpack! In addition to the inside clothing straps inside, there is a padded pocket for a laptop (or whatever), and there are 5 outside pockets (two zippered on the front, one zippered on each side, and a velcro-closing slim pocket on the back). Whether used as a carry-on on flights or a simple overnight bag, this one's a keeper!
Just what I was looking for. First, it’s very roomy. Great quality. It can be rolled, or there’s also a handle. Many useful compartments. Large enough for long weekends, and then some. Perfect travel companion. Airplane compliant. I’m so pleased with this bag.
Hi, I received this as a review item just in time for summer vacation! Love the fact that it converts you can either roll it or carry it as a backpack. It’s not to big or too small I think it’s a great size to not struggle carrying to much but I think much can fit it’s all in how you organize and make it fit seen some great hacks and this size of luggage/backpack will do! Seems like great material no weird smell and seems like it’s durable! Like the fact it’s black since it can get a bit dirty with all it goes through when in airport! Plus it has a push button telescopic handle! Also almost forgot to mention it has a 5 year warranty! So if you want something not so bulky this is the right one for you! This will be my new to go to luggage from now on!
Protégé 22” Rolling Backpack This backpack rolls like a dream even with twenty plus pounds loaded into it. It is made from attractive heavy duty material and this one is black and the zipper and the logo are accented in red. It is unisex but it’s also masculine and definitely suitable for business use. Some of the nice features are: Individual compartments, i.e., a mesh side pocket for large water bottles, another side pocket for easy to get to items, a small outside upper pocket for tickets, valuables, etc., and a slightly bigger outside pocket for glasses, pens, cell phone, and reading materials. An inside padded pocket will fit a tablet or laptop. Actually these pockets will be suitable for a lot of things. While I want to use it for travel, my spouse wants to use to carry some of his drum stuff. It fit cymbals, drum sticks, practice pad, metronome, a small electronic device, a foldable portable music stand, and a drum book. The main opening to the backpack is large for easy access. There are straps on the inside to strap things down. It’s nice to have the option of rolling the backpack or carrying it. The carrying straps are comfortable and nicely padded. When not in use they can be tucked inside an outer pocket which Velcro’s in place. This outer pocket can also change directions and be used to cover the wheels and Velcro’s in place at the bottom of the backpack. The Telescopic handle is concealed in a small zippered area on top. It’s easy to pull out and use, but to get it collapsed a small button on the inside of the bag needs to be pushed in. There is also a handle on the bottom of the bag for carrying and lifting. As I said, it’s a dream to roll and the wheels don’t scratch the floor. The empty weight of this backpack is a little heavy so it’s good that it can be rolled. This is a nice rolling backpack and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
I've seen some reviews that are mixed on the material and zippers on this bag, but mine seems fairly decent. The material is a thick double layer and water resistant type poly material that feels padded, not the see through type used on some of Protege's less expensive luggage. The zippers seem good. I've worked mine over without noticing binding or breakage. There are two side zip pockets, a large and small front pocket, a laptop pocket inside, and an open pocket on the back so the shoulder straps can be detached from the D-rings (spring hooks at the ends) and tucked in so they don't tangle when being used like a regular bag. The telescoping handle has a zippered flap over it, and there is a velcro flap on the back that you can fold down over the wheels to cover them when using as a backpack. To me, not much to complain about on this one.
This bookbag was amazing when we initially purchased it in September. My son used it for school only. However, the straps detached multiple times after the 2nd month and is now irreparable, the fabric on the bottom of the bag is compromised, and the wheels are crooked making mobility difficult now after only 4 months of use. Really disappointed in how quick the bag structure deteriorated.
The Protégé 22-inch Rolling Backpack is very spacious and will hold most (if not all) of your necessary short trip items or school supplies. It is 22” tall, 6.5 to 7” deep and about 14” wide at the base and tapers as you move up the backpack. It is roomy with lots of pockets to hold your necessary items including a 10” x 13” pocket to hold a tablet or small laptop computer and 2 zippered pockets on the front; one of them has slots for pens, pencils and a calculator or cell phone. The backpack has a push-button handle (under a zippered cover) that easily pulls out when you wish to roll it. The wheels feel like hard plastic that roll smoothly and that makes steering easy too. When the wheels are not in use and the back pack is being carried on your back, there is a flap that is secured by a Velcro® like fastener to cover the wheels so they do not irritate your back. The straps are padded and adjustable for a perfect fit. They can also be put under the flap for storage when the wheels are in use. There is also a handle on the top, so that the backpack can be carried like a tote. I was happy when I received this backpack and knew I would be able to use it. However, I found the quality of the backpack lacking. I am not going to be able to use it as much as I wanted because there are a couple of things that need to be fixed. The first problem is the flap to cover the wheels is sewn in on one side (see photo) and will need to be cut free, but that may cause the flap to not work properly. I will cut it if I decide to carry it on my back. The second problem is that when I went to zip the inside liner that covers the inside back of the backpack (where the pole comes through) closed, the zipper head came off; it had nothing to stop it (photo attached). The zipper is also made of a thin metal. I am going to hand sew across the zipper because I really want to use it, but I would not buy one now. I do NOT recommend the Protégé Rolling Backpack because it arrived with 2 defects! I give the Protege Rolling Backpack 2 stars because although it can still be used, the uses are now limited until I can repair the defects, but there is no guarantee the repairs will last. Please if you purchase – double check everything. Note: I received this product as a promotion.
