my 10 year old pit bull was losing energy and needed to lose some weight. adding proteins while decreasing the amount of calories help him regain muscle tone, improve his energy level, and look great again. I've had him on this food for 3 months now and probably won't ever change it. thanks

My crew of dogs love the Purina Dog Chow BEEF but are not as fond of the CHICKEN.. I dont know why cause they used to like the Chicken.. I've learned that the BEEF is always low stock so there must be alot of dogs that are like mine.. The breed of my dogs are Yorkie Scotty Mix if that has anything to do with it I'm not sure!

My senior Staffordshire likes this food. I switched him to this after reading how important it is for seniors to eat a good amount of protein in order to help keep their muscles from atrophying. When I first started adding this to his previous food, he didn't seem to like it much. But, by the time we got through the first few days, he was eager to eat it. However, I have always made a stew for my dog's supper by mixing in some people food and some warm water. And although veterinarians warn against feeding dogs people food because the dog can become overweight, my guy is definitely a good weight. If you add people food to enhance your dog's meal, make sure you don't overdo the people food. Nevertheless, this review is about Purina Dog Chow High Protein Dog Food Dry Recipe with Real Beef, and I do recommend it. My dog likes it and, according to our vet, he is very healthy for his age.

I have 3 giant breed dogs and go through about 36 pounds of food in ten days. They free feed and are not overweight. They are various ages - 2 years, 4 years, and 12 years; an AKC mastiff, a rescue mastiff, and a 1/4 dane -mastiff mix puppy. Mastiffs and similar giant breeds are known for being low-energy, but their large size demands a food high in protein. I have tried other foods, especially those for giants and in the Purina family and found this to be an amazing balance of value and quality.

This one was a hit. My dog was way more interested in this compared to the regular version. Actually excited at feeding time instead of just eating it because it is there. Good size bag and it seems to keep him full longer too. No issues switching over and he handled it well. I will stick with this one.

my dogs love this and after covid, my biggest dog was overweight, but putting her on this food and portion controlling her meals by weighing it out for her helped her to lose the excess weight as she entered into her senior years.

My dogs LOVE this. To me, it seems that they do not have to eat as much of the high protein- maybe it fills them better? Their coat has improved, as well as, their energy.

I used to be a stickler for Purina Dog Chow. My Rawlo loved it and I had no trouble getting him to eat it until I did. After watching my 3 year old Rawlo go from happy, energetic, and joint pain free to hard to get up off the floor and always thirsty. Drinking bowls and bowls of water daily. I read online reviews of other people dogs having the same symptoms as Rawlo and that concerned me. So I stopped giving him the kibble and started making his food myself and now he is as energetic, happy and pain-free as he was when he was a puppy. This is my story, you may have a different experience than me. I can't recommend this food bc of what I have experienced at first hand. Try at your own risk, but please do your research first is my suggestion.

My dogs are energetic and seem to drop weight during summer months so I have to use high protein to sustain them to prevent weight loss during these times. Would be nice to get coupons on the high protein dog food like the regular brands to save money few dollars off per bag but have not seen a sale yet!

All three of my dogs would not eat this. They are hogs, never had them turn their nose to food before. I couldnt see or smell anything unusual with it though.
