I liked the redesign of the bowls. At first, I wasn't sure because I liked the old design so much but the handles that are on the side of the bowls are super handy. The redesigned lids fit perfectly onto the bowls. a sure tight fit. And of course, the tough Pyrex glass is great.
I needed to replace my glass mixing bowls, not Pyrex, that I bought many years ago. I was surprised that WM offered a more bowls than Amazon at a lower price point. So far I am very pleased with them. I like that this set also offers the convenience of lids. I haven’t used the largest one yet but I’m sure there will be an opportunity to use.
I was expecting something smaller for the price. I was very happy when it arrived and it was much larger than I expected. Thick glass I dropped one opening them and not even a chip. Lids fit great. And the bowls are perfect sizes for storage in the refrigerator.
I bought this 8-piece Pyrex mixing bowl set for my daughter, the same set I've used for over 30 years. It brought back so many memories of family dinners, holiday baking, and everyday moments in the kitchen. I'm so happy she'll be making her own memories with the same sturdy, timeless bowls that have served me so well. Pyrex truly stands the test of time.
My mother used Pyrex and their products are quality that last. Need I say more? The price beat all the big name stores. The lids are great for storage and leftovers. Making bread will become easier now that I can have everything ready instead of pulling it as I go. The bowls are being put into service. Double thumbs up!
Glass is very durable. Stores nested nicely, but you'll want to have felt pot/bowl protectors between so as just to damage them. Does well in the oven at low heat to rise my bread dough. Stores left overs well. Overall a solid choice. Glad I got these over plastic or metal.
Love these bowls, I have them at all of our rental properties and have given them as gifts for friends moving into new homes. The bowls are great, the lids are nice and snug, the bowls are thick glass and they are the perfect sizes for various salads and other prepared items.
normally i would recommend anything pyrex but all three of these bowls have cracking along the bottom and im afraid to use them for any of my mixing or bulk fermenting that i needed them for. awesome. ive dropped my whole casserole dish and not even a shard came off, but these bowls are junk in comparison.
Not borosilicate glass ! Pyrex is a synonym for high quality borosilicate glass, that doesn't shatter when exposed to rapid temperature changes. But what they sent me is the cheap soda lime glass that DOES shatter under those conditions. Nowhere in the posting did it list the material, but the pics did show the distinctive greenish tinge of borosilicate glass, not the grey of soda lime glass. So, they quite obviously are trying to trick people into spending the higher prices expected of the good glass. If I wanted cheap soda lime glass, I would buy that from Anchor Hocking.
I was ordering this as a second set from a set used for at least 10 years. The glass is thinner and just feels much ‘cheaper' and not as heavy duty as the same exact much older purchase. I made a bat b of cookie dough in one of the bowls (second largest I believe) as the very first usage. I then hand washed it in the sink and when washing another glass item very lightly dinged this glads bowl lushing it not hard at all into the interior side of the sink and a large shard of glass broke off underneath (the bottom of it so to speak) the top glass rim. That bowl needs to now be discarded as clearly is no longer safe to be used. Also one of the other bowls I made some oatmeal in the microwave and when I washed that bowl it seemed to have some sort of flaw embedded i to the glass. It almost looks like an air bubble/water drop embedded into the glass. These are significantly inferior compared to the same exact pyrex glass multi pack that used to be made. A glass bowl chipping off a shard like that by merely tapping into the sink of the sink (and being absolutely brand new) is pathetic not to mention made it unusable. A brand new bowl with an interior flaw shouldn't happen and to have only used two of the bowls and both having an issue is just poor quality or just a super random bit of bad luck but given how I could instantly tell they are just far less durable than the previous set by the weight alone says a lot.
