With three sets of shower doors in our house and a husband who comes home from physically demanding work needing a hot shower daily, limescale and soap scum buildup used to mean an entire Saturday lost to scrubbing. I started applying Rain-X Shower Door Water Repellent once a month on clean, dry glass, working it in with firm circular motions as directed, and the difference is dramatic. Water now beads up and slides right off instead of drying into those chalky white spots, and what used to be a weekly scrub-down has turned into a quick wipe every few weeks. Application takes about 10 minutes per door once you get the rhythm down: spray, buff in with a cloth, let the haze set, then buff off with a dry cloth. It's not instant when you first apply it, you'll still see some haze you need to wipe away, but the beading effect kicks in almost immediately after that final buff and lasts for weeks, not days. For our hard water, monthly applications keep things looking clean; if your water is softer you may stretch it even longer. One thing worth knowing: this works best as a maintenance tool on glass that's already clean, not as a deep-clean product for doors with months of built-up scum. I still do an occasional deeper clean with a separate glass cleaner, but Rain-X is what's cut my scrubbing time down to almost nothing. If you dread shower door scrubbing, this product earns its keep by turning a Saturday chore into a quick monthly wipe-down.
I was excited to find a product like this to use in our new shower. This product was put on our new glass shower doors and our stone walls before we started using the shower. It has been about 2 months now and I have not had any issues with water/soap scum on the surfaces. I'm very pleased and will plan to reapply it every few months.
This stuff is great! I use it on my shower doors maybe twice a month and squeegee after every use and we never have buildup! Just don't spray too much and inhale like I did 🤭🤭. Very strong!
...and wanted to keep the "brand new" look to the shower (and acrylic walls). This stuff does the trick. Invest now to save on trying to clean dirty, soap scum covered shower glass.
Overall, this product works fine but we have to reapply every 4 -5 weeks to ensure our doors don't get streaky and stained, even though we have softened water.
I had to put 3 layers on my shower doors before they actually repelled water. I specifically ordered the Rain X shower door repellent, rather than the car windshield version, hoping the spray would help me prevent hard water stains. Putting 3 layers on my doors, was not only time consuming but also expensive since the shower door product is more expensive than the product designed for car windshields. Disappointing performance
The product does a solid job making water bead up and slide off glass shower doors, which helps prevent water spots, soap scum, and mineral deposits from building up quickly but have to use at least once a week for continue success.
Purchased based on reviews and having used Rain-X products on car windshield. Bought for glass shower doors. First, the smell is overpowering to the point I ultimately had to put on a mask to continue working with it. Applied, allowed it to dry to a haze as instructed and wiped it off. Absolutely zero difference in how water beaded up/cleared off the shower door than before. Thought maybe I'd done something wrong so did a second application a few days later - absolutely no difference. Disappointed as car windshield product worked amazing
I don't like the fact that I paid for two bottles and received only one. I was told that I would receive a credit for the purchase but later in the day received an email that said they couldn't credit my account. I will not be purchasing from walmart again.
This is the second one that was delivered broken. They want me to return it and order a new one paying seven dollars for shipping again for a product that was broken, Do you think I should try it again? Maybe the third time is the charm.
