I have always loved this product. I did find out though this go around to definitely pay attention to the material of some of the clothes I wanted to dye. It was a little crazy to realize a lot of my clothes I wanted to change were mostly synthetic so some of the clothes didn't even take to the color. I've never had that problem before so I clearly am going to invest in this again as well as the dye for synthetic clothes. Again, I have always loved this product.
Rit is my go to for fabric dye. Bold and bright colors when used correctly, I've never had an issue with using it. Make sure to follow directions and that you purchase the correct kind for the fabric you're trying to color. Don't forget to use their color remover for a better outcome. And their white wash is great for making whites bright again!
This product re newed and re vitalized my clothes, so So easy to use, a bit of salt and laudry detergent in a large tub and put the items in it to make like new, no NO better than new. I also used purple with this red color and it was vibrant and beautiful. . I love my dresses and hats now with the new bright gorgeous colors
I had a black polo shirt that I had accidentally spilled some bleach on and this fixed it! I didn't even follow instructions that well. (Add salt or something like that). Also I only used half a bottle so I will use the rest on a faded black shirt I have.
Worked great. I dyed a pair of tan pants and they came out wonderful. Would definitely buy again. Easy to follow directions. I dyed them in a plastic tote for about 2 hrs, then rinsed by hand till most of the water ran clear, I put them in the washing machine with a bit of soap. I used the entire bottle and wore disposable gloves. Use care so nothing else gets dye.
This dye does work. I would take into VERY important consideration the material of the fabric you're dyeing and do your research. Also buy more than you think you'll need because one bottle per T-shirt does the trick for me and lasts forever so if you're dying something bulkier I recommend weighing the garment and going about 1 bottle per pound. Pro-tip rinse in your sink so you don't dye your bathtub my sister did it and never got her deposit back.
I use this to change the color of the plastic shells of my tools. All of my ugly red lightning Milwaukee power tools are either a metallic Bronze or solid black depending on if I let the item stay in the dye while it cooled off or if I pulled it out hot. Not sure how it works for fabrics! 10/10 for customized tools
I was shocked by the effectiviness of this dye. I followed the recommendations about adding a small amt of dish soap and one cup of salt (or vinegar depending on the fabric type). I used a big pot of the stove and simmered this white shirt for about an hour and it was JET BLACK. I was trying to save the shirt and I really didn't have much hope but it turned out great! I used one bottle for one shirt and coudln't be happier. And the dye did not stick to the threading which was even nicer - it looked custom done and more expensive that the "original" color. The coverage was perfect.
I have a sectional couch that allows me replace all the fabric When I called, they wanted $2000. , which left me contemplating replacing the couch. I decided to give.Rit dye a try. I bought I the dye and salt. Pulled out my crab pot , added water and put it on the stove. I heated the water up to almost boiling. Each bottle only dies 2 pounds of fabric so I got out my food scale as suggested. I am so surprised how beautiful it turned out I ended up using about 10 bottles. The process was lengthy, but extremely simple to do. I stirred for 10 minutes as instructed then let it soak for 30 minutes. I have never done anything like this before.so I watched their helpful tutorial on their website. If you follow the directions you will not have any problems. I saved myself so much money. I have had so many compliments on my couch. Before you throw anything away, give this dye a shot. I have included the before and after pictures.
I've dyed clothing before using Rit and bought this to dye some white all cotton tank tops black. I followed the instructions exactly, but the color ended up being more of a faded purply brown color, almost like a faded old black tshirt. It was not as opaque as I would have liked it.
