Roku Express HD Streaming Media Player 2019

I have used Roku for years,including several different models.The best new thing of note is Roku has recently released The Roku Channel,which has hundreds of free movies.It is ad supported.Roku has just about every app you can think of (YouTube/Pandora/Netflix/Amazon/Hulu/HBO Now) plus tons of more apps in many different categories.Here are some points to consider when deciding on which model of Roku to buy: 1)If you need to connect by WiFi in a room far away from your WiFi router,I would recommend the Roku Streaming Stick PLUS or Roku Ultra. 2)If you have a 4K TV,I would recommend the Roku Ultra or Roku Streaming Stick PLUS. 3)To search for content using your voice,go with either the Streaming Stick,Streaming Stick PLUS or Ultra. 4)If you want a wired ethernet connection,go with the Roku Ultra. 5)If you want to connect to an old TV with RCA/Composite audio/video jacks,you will need the Express PLUS 6)The Express models have a remote where it has to be pointed at the device,unlike the other Roku models. 7)If you are only going to buy one Roku device,I would recommend the Roku Ultra.The Ultra has many unique features that the other Roku models don't such as: -Gaming buttons to play video games -Remote finder to find a lost remote control -Ethernet port for a wired connection -Micro SD card slot -USB Port -Night listening mode (this lowers the volume of loud,explosive sounds and raises the volume of soft sounds like whispers.Very useful!) -Headphone jack on the remote for listening without disturbing others

YAY! I got my Roku Stick and finished setting it all up, today! I went through and chose a bunch of my fave tv channels, to start out with - also looked over music channels, movie channels and various other free offerings (free games). I wish I had known about this alternative to cable, a lot sooner! The Roku "stick" is inexpensive, $29.00, with no monthly fees. It is so easy to install and set-up. Then watch just about anything. Some channels require payment, for a subscription (like Netflix, Hulu, BritBox, etc..) but there is so much content available, for FREE, it makes the Roku totally worth the $29.00 price tag. Plus, I finally cut the cord, with cable! Buh bye, crummy overpriced cable company! I will not miss you, or your monthly $150 bill, AT ALL!!! Love this Roku! Two thumbs up!!!

I love it! I get to pick what I want to pay for and the rest it free! movies, games - you name it! No more large cable bills and you can set up for each person in your home so you don't have to ever miss your favorites. And it can go where you go. I get Hulu at $6.49, Netfit $14

Easy to setup. Easy to use. We've had a few different streaming devices and, so far, Roku is my favorite.

I got this for a 2014 Samsung TV that doesn't have the latest streaming apps included for download. I've had it for a while now. Very nice product.

I have Charter cable/internet and I don't watch enough TV to justify having a box on every TV in the house nor to have hundreds of channels that are the same thing, sports/ religion/ news, repeated movies, that I don't want. So I got this ROKU EXPRESS. I have one on every secondary TV, cable only on the main TV. Before buying it, I made sure I could get the channels I want via ROKU, with my cable plan. I also have wall mounted TV's so again that box and the wires and plugs. Too messy for my taste. No points for the ROKU double stick tape, it doesn't stick except to the ROKU. That's okay, the power and device plug into the TV and the device is so tiny it balances on top of the TV without tape. The Express has every feature I need. The more expensive ROKU seems to be redundant with my cable plan. Not all of my TVs are smart but the ROKU makes them smart. I have one TV that is not compatible with add-on devices because it's too basic, no HDMI plug. Check yours before buying this, especially if it was a Black Friday special (which typically lacks features, you get what you pay for). I've used ROKU for years and I've never been disappointed. Highly recommend for quality, features and price, also for the money you'll save without all those extra cable boxes. The only down is that it takes a few seconds more to select your viewing choice when you turn the TV on. I don't care about that, you might.

this was amazing i really wanted a newer tv but mines still going so I just bought this roku stick instead. we have a newer phillips roku tv on main floor and roku was all logged in ect when i hooked this new stick up and signed on even most of the apps were still logged in minus hulu but its great considering we cut the cable for hulu live tv and philo. great deal gonna keep getting the goody out of tv for now:P

Easy set up, easy to use. However, the unit overheats frequently and feels warm to the touch. Has random restarts. The quality of the shows are bad most of the time, the video and audio will be out of sync and lagging or skipping scenes. Remote range is okay. My first roku, most likely would not upgrade.
