It's -30 outside but I just had to take off my sweatshirt because I am too hot. These work perfectly and quickly to start wood stove fires. I bought a more expensive brand that screams all natural, but looked and these don't have anything bad in them and they work twice as well. Half the time, we can use part of one to start a full fire.
I use these for my pellet stove. I cut up the starter squares into smaller pieces and place the pellets on top. I also add Gel Firestarter to the pellets. I light the pellets and I don't close the door, tightly, and wait about a minute before closing the door. I place the auger speed on 4 to draw fresh air into the burn pot once I turn on the "On" switch. Then, once the pellets are glowing I turn on the auger. I eventually lower the auger speed to 3, then 2 and then 1. I suggest reading the instructions for the pellet stove. The starter squares contain a wax substance.
I have previously used charcoal infused with lighter fluid for fishing trips (this is when I typically use a charcoal grill) mostly for convenience. However, this works really well and will be my new go to for lighting charcoal. It lights easily, and continues smoldering until extinguished or spent.
This is a new and interesting product for me. I have never heard of them before. They are really awesome and useful. Used them to get the BBQ pit fire going. Works great. I also see them being great for our camping trips. I will also keep them in the emergency kit in case I need to start a fire. Quick, simple, and easy to use.
I tried this product in a smokeless fire pit in my backyard. We put 2 squares under a log cabin formation of kindling. We had to hold the flame of the lighter on the side of one of the squares for less than 10 seconds, and it was good to go from there. It held the flame a good amount of time and the kindling took off. Great fire starter. Especially for someone like me who is not confident in starting a fire on my own. And only having to use 2 squares, the box of 48 will last us a long time. These are a great addition to our camping gear.
I loved trying the Royal Oak Starter Squares to start my fire in bbq pit. I put a square in the middle of my charcoal and lit it and a few minutes later my charcoal caught on and I had a great fire. Definitely better than using starter fluid which leave a taste in your bbq.
It's suppose to help and be an easy light it is not. It takes forever to get it lit. To me all it is is a thick piece of press board
Very difficult to light. If there's wind? Forget it. Not enough combustion, need to use several on just one Chimney.
they are not like they use to be. hard to light and when you do get them to light they go out very easily.
North Carolina, in a barrel, no wind, went out as did %232. Thought maybe it was me, tried my other brand that I am low on, no problem. No picture , and I did take one, because the site will not allow the upload.
