The instruction drawings were a bit hard to understand, but after reading the written instructions a few times, we finally figured it out. It only took a couple of hours to build and if I ever need another one I wouldn't hesitate as this looks neat and it is sturdy and overall was easy to build at a good value.
I had read a few of the reviews and wondered if the product would meet expectations. I was positively surprised. Assembly was easy (two people). The parts snapped together perfectly, although drilling pilot holes for the screws is highly recommended. Getting the product from the store to my house was a bit of a problem. The box is quite large. We just barely managed to fit it into our Honda CRV. The shed looks very nice in my yard. I also bought the hook assemblies for the inside - very useful. I will be storing my gardening supplies and tools in the shed.
I LIKE THE SANDY BEIGE COLOR BECAUSE THE SHED BLENDS IN WITH MY LAWN FURNITURE. THE VERTICAL SHED IS LARGE ENOUGH TO STORE ITEMS AND SMALL ENOUGH TO FIT NICELY IN MY LANAI. THE DIRECTIONS WERE EASY TO FOLLOW. THE PRODUCT IS VERY DURABLE AND THE SHED LOOKS NEAT. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY NEW SHED.
Although Walmart's ship to store experience was lacking this time (they didn't tell me it had arrived) this shed was still worth the wait. I already have a full size Rubbermaid shed but needed to free up some room. I needed something tall and this fit the bill. Sadly it is getting more difficult to find Rubbermaid sheds in stores. I can only guess that is because the competition is cheaper. Cheaper is not always better. I tried a similar shet from that Sun company and it was garbage. The instructions were lackluster and it the hinges would not hold. Rubbermaid designs them better and makes them to last. I have a smaller Rubbermaid storage shed that I bought back in the 90's and have broken down and moved halfway across the U.S. and back and it still stands and stores. I fully expect this to hold up for a long time as well. Bottom line: The instructions were easy to follow and the shed was easy to put together. Having a friend to help would be better but it can be done alone as long as you have some weight to put on the roof to hold it down while you screw things in. It's sturdy and I expect it will last a long time.
Totally worth the extra price for a good quality product! Rubbermaid is the way to go. They make the assembly was smooth as possible, plus it'll last a long time. Here are a few details from my experience: 1. I picked mine up at the store. Box is aprox. 2.5 ft x 2.5 ft x 7 ft. It weighs 200 pounds. Be prepared if you're picking up. It barely fit in my Highlander. 2. I highly recommend having 2 people for assembly. With 2 people, it'll take 2 hours or so to assemble. Instructions are easy and understandable. 3. A drill is needed, otherwise assembly is difficult. There are aprox. 40 places where you drill thick screws into. Make life easier and pre-drill with a 1/8 in bit. It's quick, and you'll be happy you did. 4. Make certain the ground is level (or have dirt on hand to make adjustments). If not, floor is squishy and gives in.
It was easy to assemble and is sturdy. My daughter and I put it together in about 1 hour. It took us longer to make sure we had a good foundation to put it on. Has plenty of room, I put in a push mower, rakes, shovels blower, chainsaw and ladder. Right on they are on the floor, but once the shelves are put in, it can hold more items.
The Rubbermaid design is good, but you need to know what to expect going in. There are no shelves included, and only a few locations to mount them. Order shelves separately from Rubbermaid. Everything went together well, following the well organized instructions, with minimal coaxing. Must be placed on a fairly flat surface for it to be square and have the doors move freely. Not paintable, unless you want peeling and flaking almost immediately - it looks nice enough and blends in with most color schemes. The hasp is a kid deterrent, not too secure. Don't overtighten the screws! Hand tighten to feel when they are biting. If you pick this up at Walmart, be aware the package is over 6 feet long and over 100 lbs. They sent out the most petite woman working that night to help me lift it into our SUV. It was a challenge, but we did it.
For the price - I got what I paid for, so no surprise there. The instructions were good, clear, and easy. All the parts were in the box. The shed is sturdy but not strong or heavy duty, but does the job for the one person lift items, yard tools, and some of the various wood pieces that are in it. One of the two floor panels (rear) was somewhat warped and made installation of the two corner panels at each corner very difficult to fully install and click/lock into place. Actually I could at best get only partial engagement. I decided to live with it. Being that it was December in Maryland and cool/cold outside I had little chance of getting it to flatten out. If it were warmer weather and sunny, I could have used the sun to relax it and flatten it I suppose. I did not want to apply a heat source thinking that I'd make it worse and then I have a bigger problem and not able to use it or able to return it if necessary. I built a level pressure treated wood platform to assemble the shed onto – using 4x4's). After completely reading the instruction before assembly, I then went on line to read reviews (kind of backwards I guess). There were a few reviews that concerned me, especially with respect to wind. So, I used a ratcheting strap attached to the 4x4 base – up one side – across the center line of the two roof panels – and down the opposite side. I pulled the strap sung – NOT too tight – I did not want to bend the roof or side panels. I also used 3 tubes of premium waterproof 100% silicone caulk inside the shed at top middle and bottom joints. Each caulk line was 4 to 6 inches long, caulk was applied to the inside and outside roof line area in 4-6 in. strips, as well as the inside floor perimeter again in 4-6 in. strips. Time will tell how this all works out. I am satisfied with the shed so far. I have had it up for a month now.
This was not what I thought it would be. I would at least expect the flooring to be rubber but it was plastic which in time will crack. My wife and I followed the directions precisely however the panels still did not fit right. The directions were not the best. We had to take it apart twice and redo it and yet the panels would not fit in the slots properly. It feels like cheap plastic to me and I don't see how it would be at least water resistant. Too me the price is too high for the cheap quality. There has got to be a better way to make assembling easier!
I ordered this shed on September 19th and received it a couple weeks later. I pulled out the parts and took inventory, and found I had two of one panel and was missing another. I reached out to Rubbermaid (super inconvenient hours BTW) and got the run around for a couple weeks before finally getting them to ship the replacement panel. From there it took another 4 WEEKS to get the panel. It was the right part, but the wrong color, see the attached pic. I'm beyond caring about looks at this point, I just wanted my shed. It's not a great shed. You need a very flat spot to install and it's a pretty short inside, I can barely stand up straight. Seems watertight I guess. It took 2 full months from order to assembly. It has a random gray panel. I still have a second beige "C" panel that I don't know what to do with. To their credit Walmart is great, they gave me a partial refund for this whole stupid process. I won't be buying another Rubbermaid shed.
