Samsung Gear S3 Frontier Smartwatch

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The s3 is a quality, timepiece. It is well designed, bigger than the s2 and the wide screen is superb; quite ideal for those with failing eyesight. The bezel itself enhances its classic appearance. Old folk will find it so easy to control. The s3 feels robust but certainly not heavy and the leather strap is comfortable albeit mundane. A vast array of alternatives is available. Similarly, hundreds of watch faces are available to suit all tastes. The s3 battery can lasts nearly three days, even when on constantly. The built-in GPS is great and older people will find it very useful when combined with ‘Here We Go' for finding your way around. The various flash lights apps are a real help when fumbling with a key in the dark. Improvements to the microphone and speaker mean that both sound and voice quality have improved over the s2. Streaming music via the watch and receiving notifications on the wrist almost seems to make the phone redundant and it can remain more often in your pocket or handbag. Phoning directly via the s3 is good and calls are clear at both ends. As an OAP, I do find the s3 indispensable and wholeheartedly recommend it although it is expensive. It is very responsive and operating it does not involve a steep learning-curve. Until recently, the app choice was limited but has been substantially extended although key gaps remain. Older people may well find some apps extremely valuable. The S Health is most useful for me because it prompts me to keep moving! It automatically monitors walking, sleeping, hear-rate and now floor tracking. I can also keep up to date with weather and news and being forgetful, I frequently use the excellent voice recognition to add a reminder. Easy Peasy!

I have owned other smartwatches and it has been obvious what they are, the design and the screen blanking out makes then stand out The S3 its designed by a watchmaker so its looks and feels like a watch. Also you get the option of having the screen always on. That reduces the battery but I still get 48 hours out of it The bezel may seem outdated but it works so well. You get greater control and no failed swipes, useful for cancelling nuisance calls. The S3 is also the 1st watch I have had that is both a smartwatch and a fitness watch - most are one or other with a little of the other thrown in. It has its own gps and a built in heart rate monitor. I have a fitness watch where the monitor stuck out of the back of the watch so that irated my skin. This one is flush with the back of the watch so you dont realise its there

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this watch for about 3 weeks now, I'm very happy with it, is very fast, very well made with using high quality materials. Often also it replaces my smartphone. I can respond to messages and phone calls without taking my smartphone wich it's very good in various situations.You can also configure the watch in may you like - loads of custom watch faces. This is not the first Smartwatch which I use.Entire Sheath app is a very nice tool that everyone should use everyday to monitor everything, I found that floors and steps are not accurately counted.I think everyone should have device like this, wich will help you save loads of time also in times where your phone have big screen and it's bulky. I wish there will be some more app to download - but it's not bad anyway. In My opinion it's best smartwatch on market

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well, I didn't know what to expect, a half decent watch with a couple of features and a load of gimmicks? I can assure you it wasn't that! Having used this watch nearly every day for the last 2 months, I won't be going back to my fancy breitling. Great for the basics and excelling in other areas as well. I was surprised how much I missed it on the one day I didn't wear it. My favourite feature has to be the WhatsApp integration. Great for staying in touch with my friends and family whilst at the same time not getting me reaching for my phone all the time. The s health app was also used a lot, recording my steps, reminding me to get moving and stretching and automatically kicking in to record my walks and cycle rides - how cool is that. Most unexpected feature has to be the mic in the watch. Perfect when I was doing the festive 500 cycle ride over the holidays, meaning I can stay in touch with my family even in the wind and rain. Reports back were that I was really clear even if I was freezing! Calendar, SMS messages, email, weather, fantastic watch faces, calculator, stopwatch and even a Spotify integration. All have been used. The only app I've not really looked at is the Altimeter and Barometer, though the Altimeter will no doubt be used on a trip to the lakes in the spring. After having the disappointment of having to return the brilliant Note 7, Samsung have won me over with this great piece of kit. It delivers the substance to back up it's great looks. I look forward to more great new apps and updates!

The S3 looks and feels premium and is a pleasure to wear on the wrist. With its minimalist design it does scream "smartwatch" rather, it whispers "premium watch". As a watch, you get a host of watch faces to choose from to suit your needs. As a smart watch, it keeps you updated with whatever information you require without the need to reach for your phone. You can also respond to most of these notifications using a myriad of input functions such as voice, compact/expanded keypads or emoji. It is also equipped with NFC to enable you make contactless payments where available. However, it is as a fitness tracker that this smartwatch excels. Went to the movies, daughters boyfriend well impressed that my watch face was themed to the film Its great when you are out and about not having to get your phone out to answer calls read emails or text messages At the shoot last week it was raining the wife rang and there I was talking to her on my watch,using it with leather shooting gloves on,really enjoyed showing off that feature The other shooters all younger than me were well impressed, one even said I got to get a new phone and watch, to which I replied tech named after fruit is so last decade! Showing off on the way back sat in the back of the Range Rover I found the driver a short cut using the map app on the watch Its great having Tech that makes young people ask the oldey who makes it, where did you get it ?

It is a little large for women to wear but unless you are a petite person, the look is quite nice. The watch can be dressed up by changing the watch face as well as the band making it very versatile. Love the design and overall functionality of this device!

I got this watch because my Neo 2 just flat out wasnt worth fixing. It is a heavier watch so it took a little to get used to it I do recommend buying a screen protector even though it is a very great watch you can never have enough protection for your devices.

Great for when your hands are busy and you need to take a call. Love being able to see my notifications quickly. Good volume for making calls, and people on the other end of the call can hear you fine even with your arm at your side. Nice clear screen. I love being to control spotify via the watch. Im a tradie and this works great for me..

I have had this watch for 10 months now and I find it frustrating as a sports watch. I am a keen sportsman regularly running and cycling, training about 5 times a week. If you want to use it for serious training you should get a garmin or similar. It basically just displays your time, current speed, heart rate, or calories. The heart rate is useless when you are running, it is accurate when relaxed or walking but regularly gives me a heartrate of 240 on my runs, my chest strap and measurements shows that my max rate is around 170, that's around 40% out. The accuracy of the GPS is pitiful. i did an out and return run 2 days ago and it recorded 11.5 km one way and 10.5 km return on exactly the same route. You cannot tell when the GPS is working and how accurate it is. It only looks to lock on to GPS when you have started your run!! You need it locked on and ready to go before you start. There is also no way to check intervals or plan workouts which should be a fairly basic thing to do. I would say that this is a good substitute for basic watches like the fitbit where you just want to get a rough guide to how many steps you have done. The GPS also seems reasonably accurate when walking so it is a good way to record all activity without having a dedicated sports watch. It's a shame really because some software updates would probably give this watch all the features a serious sportsman needs
