Love my Samsung Gear 3 Watch

Cathy S June 8, 2019

I have had this for maybe 3 weeks now and I love it. It does exactly what I need it to do. I'm still learning features on it, but I hope it lasts as long as other fitness watches I've purchased in the past. This watch is actually accurate to the miles and timing as opposed to other fitness watches. I've compared it to other apps and this one seems to be right on point.

Best yet from a reliable Samsung

Gazwalsh December 17, 2016

This watch far exceeded my expectation. Lots of features, so many ive not used a lot of them yet. I only charge it every 4 days! Nice size on my wrist and it screams out quality watch! Had mine since release date and now no stock anywhere for xmas! Worth every £££.

Fantastic bit of kit

pgmelrose March 20, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From the moment I opened the box I could tell this was a quality product. The packaging has been well designed and looks very classy, something that Samsung do extremely well. The Samsung Gear S3 that I tested was the Classic. This is a big watch that really makes a statement when you wear it. Make no mistake, people will notice this watch so be prepared to show it off. The Classic has a silver bezel and a black leather strap and oozes quality. Also in the box is a charging stand. No cables to plug into your watch. You simply place it in the stand and it charges. The watch face even rotates so that you can easily see the time. Set up was incredibly easy with my Samsung Galaxy S7. I had already downloaded the app and it was as simple as turning on the watch, opening the app and hey presto it's done! It's then decision time. What watch face to choose? There are literally hundreds available, some free and some which cost. The watch face is downloaded through the app on your phone and then it is sent to the watch. A number of faces can be stored on the watch so you can change it to suit your mood. There are a number of apps available specifically for the watch and accessing these on the watch is via another nifty bit of design, the rotating bezel. You can of course use the touch screen as well. I compared this to the latest Garmin watch owned by a friend and watching them fiddle with buttons to access the features really made me appreciate the Gear S3. Of course it has all of the features you'd expect and some maybe you wouldn't. A heart rate monitor, step tracker, altimeter and barometer. The list goes on. All of the health and exercise data is synced with the Samsung S-health app (if you use it). Overall this is a great looking watch with lots of useful apps which I have been wearing and using since it arrived. Samsung have definitely hit the mark with this watch making it a rival to all others on the market.

A smartwatch that actually looks smart

Anonymous March 23, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From the first time I opened the pack I was impressed with the look of the watch - it's really stylish looking, not like other smartwatches I have been looking wise. Also it has loads of features, particularly for fitness which is a important for my new health kick! I also found it easy to use. On negative side it a bit big for someone with small wrists like mine but the positives outweigh this negative by a long way!

AMAZING TECH

stuartmgee March 23, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the watch with some trepidation, as the hype surrounding such things often ends in disappointment, however as soon as I received it I was impressed simply by its look and feel. Although a little big for a slim wrist such as mine as can be seen from my photo it is a good weight and extremely stylish. I couldn't wait for it o finish charging so I could start using it. Perhaps the best way to review it is with a list of pros and cons. Pros: Sleek, lightweight, stylish design Easy to use Simple functionality means easy to navigate through menus Plenty of applications Good battery life although can drain quickly if "always on" selected Call element works amazingly well Voice recognition took a while to get used to, as I have a strong accent, but it seemed to learn and now no problems at all Very fast responsiveness on the touch screens and bezel Very comfortable to wear Cons: Some superfluous applications I didn't want but couldn't delete Couldn't get connectivity with WhatsAp although I did receive message alerts Despite deleting messages on my phone had to still delete them on the watch sometimes Voicemail showing messages which had already been accessed and deleted on my phone All in all I would rate this as an amazing piece of tech. As an Androidaphile who is very much against anything Apple I found it to be a fantastic compliment to my phone and would most certainly recommend it to everyone I know. Fortunately it is waterproof as I now find I never want to take it off in case I miss a call in the shower!!!

Great product

Ants November 29, 2017

Great for when your hands are busy and you need to take a call. Love being able to see my notifications quickly. Good volume for making calls, and people on the other end of the call can hear you fine even with your arm at your side. Nice clear screen. I love being to control spotify via the watch. Im a tradie and this works great for me..

A great smartwatch

jameseaston March 23, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am used to using Android wear over the past year. In particular using a Fossil Q Founder. I have incorporated having a smartwatch into my day to day life so being able to test the brand new Gear S3 and slightly different technology was great. One of my bug bares with the Fossil watch is the battery power. It only lasts a day. I knew this when I bought it but it is still frustrating. Straight away I noticed the much better battery life in the gear s3 and how it needs charging once every 3-4 days. Already much more useful. Tizen (the software that is used on the device) is really nice looking. I love the scroll wheel and the buttons at the side which make great use of the functionality of a watch. I did notice with tizen that not all android apps have notifications on the watch than they do on Android wear. I'm sure greater functionality will arrive in due course but the Android wear device wins in this area! I did like the uber app on the watch and successfully hailed an uber to a destination. I found voice recognition on the device quite frustrating, with Samsung S voice not really picking up my commands and saying other things. This got to the point where I was just getting frustrated and stopped attempting. Again Android wear with the simple "ok google" is much more easy to use. All in all a brilliant device. I'd definitely keep using it and I'm sure, in time, the small issues are ironed out!

Out of this world battery life

maneesh March 23, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've tried all the smartwatches released in the last few years, including each of Samsung's previous models. I have to admit that the most amazing thing with the Gear S3 is the battery life. It really is a huge leap forward. I've been getting a minimum of 3 days, which is phenomenal considering the size of the screen. I travel a lot, and I never need to take my charger with me! From a design perspective, it feels a very robust watch, but the downside is that it's rather bulky and when wearing with a formal shirt, then it doesn't slip under the cuff the way my Gear S2 did. My work keeps me at a desk all day, so when the watch reminds me that I've been inactive for a while and even shows me some stretches on the screen of the watch, then that's very useful. Also, when going for a walk, when I walk fast, I get a notification to keep up that pace. These small things count. I haven't been to the gym for a while but I did notice you can tell the watch which activity you want to record, even lunges! The automatic sleep tracking is brilliant and I love how you can twist the bezel to get to your day and get more details on sleep and activity segments during the day. I do like being able to customise the watch faces, so I can choose exactly what I want displayed and how it will look. A neat touch. I once got a call and answered it on the watch, and what was funny was the caller couldn't even tell I was answering the call on my watch! It was that clear. I go to a lot of events where I tweet a lot, and what's super cool is the the Twitter notifications which allow me to keep track of new interactions on Twitter without having to pull out my phone. I also find the Gear S3 to be very good for business meetings. If I get a SMS, it pops up on the watch and vibrates, and I can very discreetly review the message and select one of the template replies, without having to take my phone out of my jacket. Have I said how much I like the design where you can switch menus simply by twisting the bezel? This is way better than the S2, which was too smooth to touch, at least this is easier to grasp with your fingers. The Gear S3 definitely feels faster than any of Samsung's earlier watches. I even tried using S-voice on the watch, which is fun but S-voice is still a bit slow which is why I don't use it regularly. The most noticeable flaw in the S3 is the limited number of apps available. Overall though, it's definitely the best smart watch that Samsung have released to date.

Samsung Gear S3 Frontier

kieronm March 23, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 300 words is not a lot to review this amazing piece of technology. Being able to detach myself from my mobile (S7 Edge) was a welcome surprise. The watch makes the need to have the phone constantly available a thing of the past. A bit of setup makes sure I only receive the pertinent notifications, removing the urge to constantly check the phone and crack on with everyday tasks. The fact that the phone and watch can stay connected over Wi-Fi and not solely rely on Bluetooth improves the range. An added bonus of the phone/watch connectivity is that when the watch moves out of the reach of the phone it gives a little vibration to let you know, this has prevented me leaving the phone behind several times The build of the watch is very well executed and built to a high standard, however the bezel would benefit from being a little more robust with a firmer hand required in its use. It should be possible to lock the watch in the same manner that phones can be locked, there are times when I would like the screen to be darkened and prevented from activation by accidental bezel rotation or button pressing. Great battery life comes at the expense of the watches bulk, the diameter of the watch is easy to cope with however the bulk of the watch has caused some issues, working in a demanding environment means having to remove the watch to prevent damage when it would have been nice to have the fitness tracker in use The OS means there is a shortage of apps, the most disappointing of which was the lack of Samsung pay on the phone, although this is due to be rolled out in the future.
