These gas cans are priced fairly and are sturdy. I absolutely hate the EPA mandated spouts, so I get the spout replacement kits for very little money. I definitely recommend these, and I also recommend that when you purchase them you should also purchase the spout conversion kit so you don't have to deal with this nanny state nonsense.

Great price good value bad spout design

melody May 21, 2026

Gas can seem to be well made. But I absolutely hate the spout on them. They are hard for me to push down to be able to get the gas out. So I went on eBay and ordered some of the flex spouts and replaced every one of them with the flex spout. I don't know who thought that nozzle design was a good idea.. I get the gas can five stars the spout three.

Got the job done. Only hiccup was the initial pour. The spring in the spout that closes the spout after pouring was stiff and didn't open easily on first try. I recommend attaching the spout before you even put fuel in the can and pressing the part with the spring several times to get it moving smoothly. Then removing the spout of course to fill the can. Should be good to go!

The Spout is the Main Flaw

Ward May 17, 2026

The Spout is the main flaw. The price is reasonable, the quality is reasonable. The spout has a mechanism that you deed to squeeze and the put the top portion against the lip of the fill tube on the vehicle. It has a very small vent inside the spout, so expect it to take a while to pour out the gas. Further, the mechanism that releases the gas leaks around the mechanism. It is a small leak, but by the time you have it empty, you will also have a streak of gas that runs down the side of your vehicle. I expect I will buy a replacement spout, which will add to the overall cost, but will hopefully make it more functional.

Total crap

Jonathan April 11, 2026

The instructions tell you to unscrew the collar to let the gas vent, then you can fill up your equipment. The fuel leaks out from the collar at the same time it comes out of the spout. I vented it and tightened the collar back down, and barely any gas comes out of the can. This is the second Scepter can that I bought and it turned out to be a complete disappointment. I just want a normal gas can with the basic vent cap and pour spout.

Must be stored with the spout up.

Linda February 18, 2026

The spout does not fit back into container like the other ones do. So it has to sit out like that. Cap, nearly impossible to get off. Stinks for storage. it would be nice if they had add a cap that was closed at the top instead of just a piece of paper over a hole that the spout has to go through. The gas leaked on my leg on the way home from the top. These spouts need to be flexible. I can't get all the gas out of the tank into my vehicle.

Five gallon gas container

JGS February 24, 2026

It's a nice looking gas can. Doesn't have a vent in the body of the container. The vent is in the Flo Spill-Proof spout. It has a solid one piece spout with a built in vent. On the underside of the spout is a black lever. When the spout is inserted into the tank or whatever, the black lever is pushed in by the rim of the tank and that opens to spout and gas comes out. Well, a full five gallon tank is about 35%23-40%23 and since the spout is a solid piece, it has to be held upright while pushing the spout into the opening so the black trigger can stay open to dispense gas. It's a huge pain. This can and apparently all models of gas/fuel cans on the market these days also have an insert piece inside the can, so I couldn't insert a siphon hose into the can to transfer gas that way.

Original Spout is IMPOSSIBLE

LadyPeace April 20, 2026

It's impossible to unscxrew the spout to get it off to fill up the gas can. I have tried and tried, repeatedly. Those spouts are trash and I also ordered a replacement spout that I know works from previous experience. I can't even get the original one off so that I can put the decent one on. Annoying waste of time.

Eh 😅

Heather July 14, 2026

It seems like it would be a great deal, because you can get a 2 gallon gas can for half the price, or you can get 5 gallon gas can that has the trigger on it so that supposedly doesn't spill but it actually does leak and is actually hard to deal with when it has 5 gallons of gas in it

NOT USER-FRIENDLY! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Lisa July 16, 2026

It's nearly impossible to use this can! You have to hold down a lever - which does not click in place - while attempting to "hook" the lever onto the lip of the gas tank hole, all while lifting the heavy gas-filled can. Plus, unless you have an appropriate funnel, this will not work in a vehicle with a valve "flap" that covers the gas tank hole. It took 2 of us and lots of spillage to empty this can. Eventually I made a funnel from the plastic sheet at the bottom of my reusable shopping bag. I definitely do not recommend this can. There are other cans out there that are user-friendly. Why the manufacturers made this so difficult is beyond me.
