No issues with spreader. seeing better distribution than with the lesser models.
We had an old Scott's Spreader. We wanted to replace due to our yard is larger. This spreader is perfect for our 7234 sq ft yard. It's been easy to put together.
Excellent spreader, covers a lot of ground quickly , and the fertilizer does not get stuck in the wheels. Love it!! Easy to use.
Awesome.. Worth every penny.
A very nice product, it true to its words.
Really nice spreader. Works great and very good quality as are all Scotts products.
This spreader arrived in the original Scott's box in good condition. During the assembly process - which is very simple - it became clear there were pieces missing from the hardware kit. I called Scott's and they were quick to offer to ship out another kit, but told me it would be 10-14 working days before they could ship it. 10-14 working days! Really? When Amazon can ship in just hours??? I went down to my local hardware store and bought similar parts and finished building the spreader. It will be interesting to see when the hardware kit comes...
For the money I expected the spreader to work like silk. I followed the recommended settings that came with it. After covering a 12,000 sq ft area 1/3 of a 5,000 sq ft. Amount was still in the spreader…recommended setting is wrong. Also I have arthritis in my hands so the release lever lock was important to me. Unfortunately, it was so difficult to apply it was unusable.
Used spreader to put down pelletized lime and Scotts could not give me a setting for this spreader to match my old Scotts drop spreader. There is no conversion chart. This meant I had to guess the setting and as a result I over applied lime until I changed settings several times and had to purchase mor lime than I have used before. Help with settings from Scotts was no help.
Though a loyal Scotts customer for decades, I cannot express how disappointed I am in this product and their customer service. I had a Scotts Speedy Green spreader for years. I recently gave it to my daughter for her first house and decided to splurge and pony up the $100 and treat myself to an "Elite" spreader. Only 2 applications in, it seemed to be working well. On my 3rd application last night, the axle disengaged and it quit working altogether. I couldn't believe it, but assumed I had gotten a faulty single unit, and wanted to give the company an opportunity to remedy the situation. I immediately called the customer service 1-800 number on the spreader. My rep Ivan was friendly enough, but clearly new nothing about the product or how to resolve the mechanical failure. Let me be clear...I wasn't looking for money. I simply believed Scotts would do the honorable thing and stand behind their expensive and "Elite" product and send me out a replacement. There was no interest or apparent ability to do this. The only solution offered to me was if I wanted to "cut cables off" of the existing spreader and mail them to them (yes, I'm serious), they would review the claim and likely send a refund. Shame on you Scotts! This is horrific customer service for such a large and seemingly reputable company. In quickly reviewing other posts on this spreader with former customers having the same failures, it is now clear that this product should have been immediately pulled from the market as soon as it was released. The design is cheap and flawed and will not last. If they are committed to asking people to cut up their spreaders and send them back to them, I assured them I would do the proper thing and warn everyone I could not to make the same mistake with this company or their flawed product. Buyers shop elsewhere! Todd C.
