I have used Scott's lawn granules for many years and it is a great product. You must follow the instructions to not water your grass after applying for at least 24 hours and 72 hours is better. I try to wait until about 4 - 5 days to mow again and then allow the trimmings to remain on the lawn. It will kill weeds and will thicken your grass. My grass has a beautiful green carpet appearance.
I was disappointed the bag had a hole in it when it got delivered but it was in another bag. The outer bag was not torn so I think the bag was torn before they packed it to send to me. The other fertilizers I have ordered were never rewrapped in another bag. A bunch did spill out before I realized the bag was torn .
I think the product works really well but be cautious about shipping. I shipped these to my work address so that it was easier for delivery and it stunk up the whole office!! The packages do not keep out the chemical smells (which is also why we shouldn't put this in our lawns but that's another day's argument). So just be cautious about the smell if you are traveling with this in your auto or storing it indoors.
Use this fertilizer every year, so that speaks for itself. Now packaging by Walmart for online delivery was another...So took a heavy item that comes in a bag that can shift due to granules and package it in another plastic bad and ship...needless to say hole in both bags. Thought about retuning, but defeats the whole idea of online delivery, versus probably two handfuls of granules lost. Next year, will get from another competitor that also gives 10% discount for Veterans, when they run their Scotts sale, and will be same price from Walmart.
After 2 applications, on wet lawn, temps in low 80’s, and covering less than the maximum area noted on bag, I did notice some weeds killed but seems to be a much higher ratio of fertilizer to weed killer. Basically,it fertilized weeds it didn’t kill along with my Bermuda. Not impressed, and will not purchase again.
Grass is definitely greener but doesn't kill crabgrass, dandelions or chickweed
My order was for two bags of scotts weed and feed and what I received was one bag of weed and feed and a box of scotts toilet paper. Customer service was very helpful and sent out the missing bag of fertilizer. First bag I received must have been old because it had many clumps. I was able to break some but half of the bag was like conrete. Second was okay and was spread easily.
Applied exactly as directed with a Scott spreader over a damp lawn. Fertilizer clumped on the wheels of the spreader and dropped off along the path of the wheel and killed the lawn in narrow strips where the heels rolled. About half of the clover and other non-grass in the lawn survived. In short: didn't kill my weeds as I wanted. But killed some of my grass. I will never buy again.
Was going to but a cheaper brand but decided to spend $100 for two bags of the 15,000 square-foot Scotts weed and feed.. Planned to do my lawn and, as a surprise did my daughter and son-in-law salon for them too.. Carefully followed the instructions and used Scotts spreader Very disappointed in the results. 3 weeks later we still have many dandelions in full bloom in both yards. . They have been kind but I can tell they too are very disappointed.
took way to long to spread (broadcast) because clumps were clogging spreader PLUS it could not be spread evenly/consistently.
