SCRIB3D Advanced 3D Printing Pen with Display

Was deciding between this one and the 3Doodler for my 8 yo. Chose this one because the filament is cheaper. The tip does get hot, but I just told her to be careful and she's been just fine. Has hardly put the thing down in 4 days! Her and her older sister have made lots of little crafts and fun things. Does take a minute of playing with it to get the hang of it and it's not going to be a perfectly printed thing. But it's a very interactive, fun toy!

got this for my 14 year old for christmas, was a big hit. showed up on time, early actually if i remember correctly. so i had plenty of time to get it wrapped and put under the tree. looks cool, seems well made, i did purchase a 2 year replacement thing for a few dollars just incase.

It's very smooth and works great other than when the filament gets stuck then you have to pull it all back out and try again. that's the only down fall.

As a crafter, I love trying out new tools and different materials to obtain the desired outcome. I found the spools of filament prior to ever knowing about the printers or pens. Unboxing: the first thing I notice was that this is the first company that in have encountered that did not seal their filament in a vacuum sealed bag. The supplied 5 colors of PLA filament was just loose in the box (so humidity could impacted the filament's performance). I have brought over 2 dozen filaments from all different companies, so very surprised. Especially when in their user manual they say… ”recommend using SCRIB3D filament and storing it in a sealed and dry location.” Secondly, this company actually provided a required outlet plug. Did notice charging cord is rather stiff and is 48.25” long, so just enough that I do not need an extension cord like I did for the 07 pro pen (shorter cord and no plug). For $59.99 getting better control features but without needed extras like needed finger tip protectors , clear plastic trial sheet %26 case. It does have a yellow light that comes on when you plug it in. Once you hit the forward arrow button, it turns on the pen, and another light comes on, red until the pen gets up to temperature for the desire filament, then turns to green. The temperature control range for the pen is 160-210 degrees C for PLA and 210-230 degrees C for ABS. The green light is the go for loading in the filament which does take a bit of time. UNLOADING ALSO A BIT LENGTHY! The pen also shuts off the temperature, if not using (pressing buttons), so just the yellow light to show it is still plugged in. I brought this pen mainly for the side control buttons. The 07 pro pen had the speed button on top and for me it was just too hard to control the speed that way. I was tending to use both hands. Plus this SCRIB3D pen actually had some temperature range control, where the other pen did not. Even though their filament did not come in a sealed bag, I was still able to use it fairly well, without the filament bunching up on me. Thus, I was able to form their supplied practice stencil butterfly fairly well, for a first attempt. So overall I was very happy that I searched out this pen with the side control buttons, which seems to give me the control I needed to handle the pen. Since it does seem that these 3D filament pens do take a certain amount of dexterity/cordination and a good steady hand, which can be a challenge at times. I do recommend that prior to buying %26 using, potential buyers review the wonderful selection of how to videos for 3D pens. The videos has great tips for getting started, like starting with drawing dots, lines, angles, circles, working your way up to an item, and really getting to know the pen before trying to tackle a project. Daughter is 9. Very simple for her to read instructions and understand and use right away. Changing the colors can be a bit cumbersome. Its so far what we both expected. She's starting off by going over her 2D designs before building the pieces together, working over foil has been good for us.

Scrib3d advanced Pen broke within a day, not designed for removing clogs. Not repairable. Don't waste your time on this pen. Get a 3doodler flow. This deserves no stars

Broke after 1st spool ran through it. The 2nd plastic spool will not feed all the way through it.
