It's A Great Game With A Learning Curve.

ShipsAhoy July 9, 2018

I'm not sure what other people are on about. Sure there's trolls, but that's any game. This game is a really fun adventure like no other game i've ever played. You practice teamwork, and if you don't, it won't go well for you. There's battles of other ships and skeletons, the water is beautiful, and its just innocent fun for any age. Having said that, i wish there was more of a tutorial at first to learn how to do the basics. You basically have to rely on watching others and do as they do. Also, I'm hoping in the future there will be ways to enhance your weapons (not just for looks, like it is currently). All-in-all I love the game even with it's quirks, lack of upgrades, fortnite like graphics, and those skeletons that just won't die! I can't wait to see what the future DLC will be for this game!!

Sea of Thieves

andemonium February 9, 2019

This was hands-down my favorite game of 2018, and I still play it more than anything else I picked up over the holidays (Battlefield V, Red Dead II). It’s NOT for everyone. The learning curve is steep and there’s nothing to stop griefers (jerks who steal from other players) from beating up on you day one. And the only thing you’re working for is new skins for your ship and outfits/accessories for your character. Obtaining the game’s psuedo-end state of “Pirate Legend” will take hundreds of hours. So why do I love it so much? I’ve never played a game that came with such a great sense of adventure. You never know what is going to happen, good or bad, and for a game that has little to no story line built in, I have countless stories to tell that are uniquely mine. As an example the other day I was playing solo and had a boatload of valuable treasure on my, uh, boat when a group of griefers (jerks trying to rob me) started chasing me down. I ran for in and took off with a direct tail-wind (gives you the best speed). As I got to the perimeter of the map I realized I was running out of room, but as luck would have it there was a computer-controlled skeleton ship hanging out by one of the islands. I went past the island and then cut to the west, hoping to draw the griefers into the skeleton ship. It worked, as I could hear cannon fire and all sorts of fighting breaking loose from where I had lost sight of them. I reversed my direction to throw them off entirely and was chucking to myself when the water turned dark and a Kraken surfaced. I fought with all I had but I had picked a bigger ship (brigantine) to play solo and I couldn’t keep up with repairs and trying to get away. I lost my ship and everything on it, but had a blast along the way.

So far so good

Mamaof3 January 8, 2024

Bought these as a Christmas present and wanted to let him use them for a few weeks before I reviewed. So far they are working really well. He said they last slightly less than the regular AA batteries that we were using but there are 4 of them so it's easy to just swap them out and keep playing. They charge up pretty quick and I like the feature that shows which batteries are completely charged and which ones are charging. So far I'm happy with my purchase.

Don't Bother

Venia June 14, 2018

Paid full price, the game is like only 15% of a game. Bullies are everywhere and they steal stuff that isn't valuable to anyone just so you don't have it. It was so visually stimulating on the previews I bought it, now I just regret that $60. I never even completed the first quest.

Controls are terrible, directions make no sense

idontwantanicknameonhere February 1, 2020

I am not a novice at video games by any means but this game is terrible. It is very tedious, directions do not make sense, control directions get blocked by the task it is telling you to do, and even when following directions it repeats and doesnt register the task is completed. Im glad this came with an xbox purchase and i didnt waste the money on this game.
