SentrySafe H0100 Fire/Water Chest Safe with Privacy Key Lock, 6.1 in x 14.3 in x 13 in, Black

I like this item because it is small enough to be hidden easily, yet strong enough to protect your belongings from fire or water damage. It is a bit heavy, but that's to be expected. It is not intended to hold large items, but for personal papers, or jewelry, cash, it is perfect.

I noticed someone said it didn't come with keys so he couldn't open it. The keys are inside the safe. Note it comes unlocked, and in order to open, you have to push down on the top while pressing the release latch under the lid, just above the keyhole. It comes with an insert attached to the lid showing how. The keys are then inside the safe. The white dust on Sentry Safes making it look dirty is apparently normal, and is Sentry's patented insulation, to make Sentry Safe Fire-Safe products UL classified which are concrete-based, and thus not unusual for dried concrete dust to be evident on your safe as a result of the manufacturing process and vibrations during shipping. Fortunately, mine only had a little on the back, which easily wiped off. It appears others may have more. It's nothing to worry about. This is not my first Sentry Safe. It's the perfect size for my needs, to hold a small zipper bag for my social security card, birth certificate, voting registration card, etc., as well as a fireproof bag, 10.2" x 6", I bought separately to help reduce the heat for plastic items such as flash memory cards I backup all of my devices to. All in all, it appears to be exactly what I needed, fireproof, waterproof, and hopefully I won't have to test it out in an actual fire, but the peace of mind it provides is worth it alone.

I keep all my important paperwork inside. It fits nice under my bed it's. Not that heavy or bulky like other safes/lock boxes.

Just short of fitting a standard piece of paper. Fits if you let it bend so it's in at an angle, but won't be able to utilize the full depth of the safe. If you've only got a few documents, or smaller items, it will suffice. If you need to store a folder or binder, get something slightly larger.

I believe this is a good sturdy safe but you would be wise to check the INSIDE measurements. It looks like it will hold 8x11 documents and it does but they do have to be crunched up a little. It works though for what I needed.

Works well to protect the contents from unauthorized access. However, it also impairs authorized access being a royal pain to open. I finally got the key to to move the lock freely; now the button is extremely difficult to operate, requiring me to forcefully hit the top near the front, while it is placed on a solid surface, to get the latch to disengage!

I do not like this safe as it is very hard for me to open and close as I have very little hand strength to push down on the top and pull up on the latch at the same time. I only bought it as my old Sentry Safe with the lock in the handle on top would no longer turn and lock. I bought a different one initially but it was too heavy for me to lift and had no handle so I returned it and bought this smaller model. Everything I had to put in it barely fit but at least it has a handle to help me lift it. I wish I hadn't had to replace my old safe as it was perfect for my needs. Dont like the style change at all.

Arrived in manufacturer's display box with no additional packaging. Package was damaged and safe had cuts/cracks in the vinyl coating. I have one of these boxe I bought in the store and it is fine. This review is for poor packaging. I plan to return the item.
