Shimano FX 2500HG Spinning Reel

I bought this one as a backup to the one I've been using surf fishing for 2 yrs, that's right 2 years in the surf with a $20 reel I do a lot of surf fishing in SD so now of course this isn't on my heavier used setups but it's perfect on a little light line / light rod I carry it with me even when using my other setup because there is always tourist asking questions %26 if kids want to try fishing always say yes %26 rather they use my $20 reel for obvious reasons best fish landed 22 inch Corbina by kid from Arizona this little reel had no problem

For a very inexpensive reel it’s exceptionally smooth on the retrieve. The drag adjustment is very good. Not like most bargain reels that are all or nothing quickly, the drag adjustment is positive and nuanced. Running 10lb Original Stren and its a good match for this reel.

Excellent reel for the money. Drag system is tight and reliable and the anti-reverse works well. Spooled with 8lb fluorocarbon for a perfect trout/salmon reel for Alaska.

An excellent choice! this reel is the best, the brake its so sofisticated and powerfull, the way that recover the line its very finesse, highly recommended.

Good reel to start with. Very smooth but there is a rubbing sound. My 4 dollar reel does not do this but not as smooth

Been used these cheap reels for years can’t beat them for money . I have 8-10 of them use them in salt and fresh water they work great .

it feels solid enough just fished with it once so we will see if it works out I'll change my 4 to a 5 $tar
