(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I am very satisfied with my overlock machine. I had no prior experience with this type of machine and found it very easy to use. I still have a bit of difficulty getting it to operate at the lower speed. Since I lack experience, I still can't position the fabric so that the seam ends up exactly where I want it. It would be good if there were a way to activate some sort of low-speed switch. Other than that, the machine is quite sturdy and works very well with both thin and thick fabrics, as well as knit. I wholeheartedly recommend this machine.
The HD0450S serger is very similar in design to my "dearly departed" 21 year old former Singer serger, therefore, it was an easy transition and I didn't have much "down time!" The new serger has a few new enhancements, but I went online and downloaded the user manual and my questions were answered.
I've been using this pretty regular since I purchased it a few months ago. It's nice, has some good options. I like that they didn't send a manual because honestly I look up my solutions online anyway. What I miss from my old babylock machine though is it had a shortcut tool that helped you thread the threads and this new singer doesn't
I dislike not having an actual manual to read from. I can't download it. Tried many times and I couldn't. There is no address to order one. I finally got the machine threaded right and I love it!! It did take some time to thread it right but worth it in the end. I would recommend this Singer Serger to my friends.
Do not like the fact that good customer service is not important to anyone any more manuals should come with a product. Singer of all businesses should know that. Another problem I have with it is the free arm is very hard to get to, the button to push to take it off seems to be backwards or something. Other than that it is ok.
Trying to purchase this led two multiple declines and one approval out of those declines one was still charged and even though a couple agents have confirmed the refund was processed i still don't see it and would like a receipt of such refund . So basically i was charged twice and refunded once however i don't have the refund and would like a receipt of such processed refund
They make it heavy so you think it's quality, but then they DO NOT even include an instruction manual rendering this into nothing, but a poorly shaped boat anchor. Look I'll be honest, I don't understand the picture instructions on the machine itself, I'm a learn-by-reading kind of guy and on top of it I don't own a computer or tablet, so trying to read all 166 pages of the PDF manual on a 2.75"x6" phone screen even zooming in is almost more torturous than trying to figure this hunk of garbage out. Does it make good stitches? No idea. Ease of use? Can't even start. Does it do nice seams? Couldn't tell you. What I can tell you is Singer likes to print a little flyer in 97 different languages talking about how one stitch doesn't make clothing but a whole chain of stitches makes a piece of art or whatever, and you are just one stitch in their plan to help save the planet by not including an instruction manual. so don't expect if you're a first-time owner of one of these even if you've used them at a friend's house or a family members house before, do not expect to purchase it and to be able to use it. so far I've only been able to find one YouTube short that kind of shows you what to do, and even in that the guy says this particular machine is insanely hard to get threaded in the first place.
I returned it because it was too complicated to thread. I don't have time to spend an hour trying to thread it every time. I usually like singer products but not this one. I also couldn't get the tension adjusted and I've used a serger for 50 years so I know what I was doing.
I order this for curbside pick up, they brought it to my car and I didn't look at it into I got home and it was already open and taped back up, I returned it to the store and on the shelf was 3 unopened items, I got a new one but it didn't rang up for the same price so I went to customer service to have them match the price, it took 30mins for the manger to come over to approve the price override
The threading is very difficult with the locations buried beneath the feed dog plate and no way to remove the plate as without a specialized screw driver. I have had many singer products since my grandmother's pedal machine. I could take them all apart to clean and lubricate them, replace parts, etc. the instructions are fine though i have always had a published user manual and should not have to print my own or have a phone or computer in my hand to use it. It takes 2 hands to do most anything with this machine. Will be returning it.
