If you still have a few DVDs that you'd like to play on your TV (or even CDs), this is a great little player. It's a no balony SONY (I'm using their slogan ... but, it's very accurate). It's easy to set up, easy to use, and you don't have to access any "bells and whistles" unless you want to do more than just play a DVD (or CD). Most people don't even think about playing CDs through their TVs ... but, the feature is there if you care to access the CD capability.
This particular player is very nice quality and easy to use. It's the only player I've had that will play even scratched DVD's. This is a replacement for the same model I've had. It lasted about 7 years with continual use. I think that's pretty good.
I did a bit of research on DVD players before I purchased one. I found a number of them that were a lot cheaper, but also in the reviews and description of what other customers has said the quality wasn't very good in those cheaper DVD players as far as a picture and sound goes. If I'm gonna be entertained, you want good picture and good sound and they said the Sony brand was at the top of the list as far as quality goes and it's been doing great so far.
I needed a DVD CD player as my old HiFi CD player is having issues. I thought I was buying this as a short term hold over, maybe not now I have tested it out. The quality is amazing and whatever DAC they are using is surprisingly good for the price I have this player hooked to TV. Using HDMI and Amplifier via RCA, both outputs active so sound through HiFi system. the sound through the speakers is much better than I was expecting. Great product for the price. I only got it today, am hoping it can last like my previous CD player lasted I can again enjoy my older CDs and DVDs
I was looking for an inexpensive CD player since my old one quit, I didn't really think I needed to spend a whole lot of money on it and this was inexpensive and plays CD's fine. It does lack a display indicating what track it is playing nor does it indicate that it is even playing or not. The buttons aren't very easy to push in because they are thin and angled in a strange way.
I have only owned this like a month and I’s making this loud humming sound. It practically drowns out the movie 🎥 I am watching. It’s so annoying. I am not sure if want to buy another one right now but I’ll buy a different brand for a higher price with better quality. Live and learn. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I am sure I am not the only one with the same issue.
lt was listed online @ $39.88, but in the store @ $57.00. The person in the electronics area was less than helpful and made me feel like I was bothering her talking on her phone rather than helping customers. Her attitude and dimeaner were very off putting.
Bought this for a good friend of mine who is not technologically oriented. The Blu-ray reader went to her house so it took me about a week to get there. I tried to install it on her main TV with some problems. So I installed it on another TV in the house with the same problems. Because we are both elderly, in our 80s, we don't get around as readily as we did before. So we finally got to the store to return it it was a couple of days after the $20 plus repair contract expired. So on returning it I lost the $22 plus the shipping cost to the supplier.
Bought it some months ago and it played the DVD I put in but would not eject. Sony tech attempted to help but was not helpful. Suggested I send it in or take it back to where I bought it. Well it still had my DVD stuck in it. The DVD is one of my all time favorites, so, cant get player replaced when still can’t get DVD out even though I attempt it every now and then. Perfect Catch 22. Don’t take a chance on buying it unless you don’t mind losing your DVD I could break it open and just take the loss of the player but hope one day it will function.
This device takes about 5 minutes just to load the DVD and when it finally does and you select to play it takes another few minutes to start playing. Once your actually watching the movie it then pauses after about 15 minutes like it's trying to catch up. I'm taking it back for a refund.
