Southern Living Fire Chief Arborvitae Live Shrub in 2.5-Quart Grower Pot

Three fire chief arborvitae shrubs shape like little fire balls. Arrived at my doorstep packaged well, and secured. All three are healthy with bright red tops , all I had to do was water them, sit them in the sun where they will be living, wait a few hours before planting them in containers. They are all planted in their container home and I believe they will do well. Looking forward to seeing them throughout the winter and into spring.

I was astounded at the size and fullness of the shrub I received! It's huge, which is a great plus as the colder weather is coming, so this guy can hold his own against the upcoming winter. The bush is gorgeous and full, and already showing the flaming color on its tops. I'm super pleased!

Such beautiful specimens ( I had purchased two, and they are exactly what I have wanted for the garden for quite awhile). Before purchasing, it is best to learn about the plant. One tip that I would like to share: plants in their temporary planters are easily unsheathed by simply and carefully snipping the thick top edge of the container in two places approximately two inches apart, and then repeat on the opposite side. Now, peel the container between the two cuts on either side of the planter pot, as if peeling a banana. The next step, especially for plants with densely entwined root balls: Place the root ball in an unused ziplock bag; give it a drink of water; carefully zip shut to prevent dehydration; and give the roots a chance to decompress before attempting to disentangle the roots, using a small twig or tweezers or gentle handling.

Exceeded expectations. Was initially hesitant to buy online but plants arrived healthy and great value for money.

The package was sturdy and intact. The shrubs were in great condition. The foliage and color of the plant was healthy. Really recommend Southern Living!

I purchased one Fire Chief shrub from my local nursery for $42 plus text. I turned around and place an order for two Fire Chief shrubs from Walmart and received 2 bigger ones for a cheaper price.

I received the two plants as expected. Even though they took a while to get here, I was excited to receive them in good order. I did a very thorough job of planting them but within 1 week one of them turned completely black and lifeless. The other one is now starting to turn black also. It's a real disappointment.

I received my Firechief Arborvitae shrubs 0n 3/22/2023 and was not happy with them. I have ordered these from Southern Living before and they have never arrived with the tops brown. I know these shrubs take on a golden to orange color at certain times of the year but these looked like winter burn to me. I went ahead and planted these in hopes they will survive but if not I will be returning them to Walmart as they are quite expensive. The first photo was shot with one of the new plants sitting by a Fire Chief arborvitae I planted last August. They arrived in a timely manner (3 days after ordering) and the container they were shipped in was in great shape. My only complaint is the condition of the shrubs upon arrival.
