Quality machine. Very well made and works great. My husband and I do crossfit everyday in our home gym. This rower has been a great addition. Worth the money. It can take the use of two people hitting it hard several days of the week. If you are looking for a good piece of equipment that has a lower price tag but can compete with the concept 2, this is it.
The equipment arrived today and my housekeeper and I put it together in about a half hour. It was so easy, and the instructions were very clear. We could have gotten it done in 15 minutes if weren't chatting and catching up at the same time. We both tried it out wnd found itto operate smoothly, while the fan provides a nice breeze. It's as quiet as any air fan style rower, and the metal chain is likely to be much more durable than the nylon ribbons found on all other moderately priced rowers I've researched. i did a lot of research before choosing this product, and I am glad I did.
I had previously ordered a Proform rower from ****'s Sporting Goods but found it too difficult for me to use. I gave it to my daughter and ordered the Stamina Air rower which I absolutely LOVE!!!
Love this rower. Only complaint is the seat is a bit small, but everything works great. Fairly easy to put together, took me about 30 minutes. For the price it's well worth it.
I have owned this rower for over 2 months, using it 6+ times a week as a supplement to my strength and conditioning program. I have rowed on C2, which is the industry standard, and I have to say, that I could not feel a difference in the catch, pull or recover of this rower, compared with that of a C2. I have several clients that have used both, and they agree, that the feel is the same. I would still rate the C2 as the Gold standard, however, I give the Stamina X Air Rower a solid Bronze. There are 5 things that would make this great rower even better. 1. Give it a better warranty. It is an awesome product, so stand behind it. 2. Raise the fan assembly/chain catch. Currently it is placed a little low, but it only takes 2 minutes to adjust to this. 3. Give it a better computer. Or atleast have a metric/meter option, instead of just standard/mile. 4. Raise the computer to eye level. 5. Make it truly foldable to reduce the footprint when not in use. That said, at $399, compared to the $800+++ of a Concept 2, I had to atleast try it out! I plan to buy at least 1 more, and possibly 3 more! Well done Stamina!
a) Well built, but the wheel wobbles and the seat rattles (difficult to adjust). The chain seems a bit short. b) It arrived one day late, not a big deal for me since I spent the Pandemic making my decision. c) The chain was not mounted on the wheel sprocket and I had to use a wire coat hanger to get it there. (Walmart: for a reasonable price, I could make you a video on how to use a coat hanger to remedy that little problem. You could include it in the package). d) Terrific exercise, though. A bit late for the current Olympics but should be able to get some gold, next time. Walmart is just a great place to shop, by the way (no sarcasm here). You all stay safe.
I've had the rower for a couple weeks now. While evaluating to purchase this rower, I first was considering a Concept2. But after rethinking how much I wanted to spend, the Stamina seemed like a better place to start for my first rower. So far I'm pleased with build quality, performance, etc. The rower is available from a number of retailers, although none of them had this product in stock to check out. I decided to order through Walmart because there is one close by and they have managed to my satisfaction anytime I've not been pleased with a product in the past. I used the ship-to-store option for free shipping. The WM website allowed to keep track of the status of my order and even linked to FedEx's website to track the shipment. WM's website was slow to update when my order did arrive. I went to the store to pick up my rower after it showed 'delivered' on FedEx's website. All-in-all I'm happy with the ship-to-store experience and the product.
This is a nice machine not too big or small. Electronics are cheap but do in a pinch. Price a little steep for design. No tension adjustment to make easier or harder rowing. All in all probably only worth half the price but I have it and will use it.
I ordered this just before Christmas and started using it on December 16th. I bought it because, while doing ERG research, I read some stellar reviews. It was also within my budget. I should have read more not-so-positive reviews. I'll begin by saying that it was very easy to put together. The seat was a bit wobbly, but I followed the instructions on how to level it by adjusting the nylon nut on the eyebolts on either side and succeeded. At 60lbs (fully-assembled), the rower is surprisingly stable (if you have it sitting on an exercise mat) with wheels on the front, should you need to move it. The fan can also be folded to make it more compact. I have a dedicated space in the basement so it stayed put under a sheet. Alas, it has both design and mechanical problems. • The LCD display is pretty crude, but I knew this when I bought it. What's unfortunate is the angle of the support that it's mounted in is too extreme – making it virtually impossible to read (very pale screen). There were also instances where it would reset the timer and stroke count mid-workout. • The foot rests have adjustable web straps rather than Velcro, which is great because the latter tends to wear out. Again, the problem is with the angle. When rowing, you should keep your heels planted upon the return, but the angle of the foot rests made it impossible. I found myself pushing off with the balls of my feet more than not. The left side also had a wobble that I could not fix, no matter how hard I tightened the mounting rod screws. • The positioning of the handlebar is wrong. Upon the return, you should be able to extend past your feet in order to maximize push off and leg extension. Here, the chain is position directly in-line with the foot rests, minimizing travel distance. • When the seat wouldn't slide gently when I wasn't on it, I looked and noticed two rail rollers weren't making contact. When I attempted to make adjustments to the eyebolts again, I discovered that they were stripped. Mind you, with all of it's design flaws, I did my best to make it work. Then, on January 16th — exactly one month after I started using it — the chain started to 'jerk' immediately after the return. Research indicated that the flywheel was wearing out. When I contacted support, they replied and asked me to complete a usage survey. I read that after other reviewers responded, they were told that they were using it too much. I was using mine 4 days a week - 2 moderate 15-20 minute sessions and 2 aggressive, 10-15 minute HIIT sessions. Since this lasted only a month with what I would consider normal use, I was not going to deal with support trying to make me feel like I'd done something wrong so I initiated a refund online, chose "in-store drop off", took the rower apart, packed it back into the box (luckily, it was still in the garage) and took it back.
Bought this because the reviews were so good but took it back after 2 days because of a design flaw I couldn't get past: 1. The rowing motion is very uncomfortable because you're pulling from between your feet. You can see from the pics that the chain emerges from the round wire cage down between your feet so when you're returning to the starting position, your knees are in the way. With this motion you have to lift the handle up and over your knees every time you return. I could not get into a good routine. There are other Stamina rowing machines that have the chain or strap emerge from the top of the cage and that should fix the problem. 2. Also, seat is too narrow. Feels like you're going to slide off the seat while rowing. I had to keep stopping and adjusting. Would probably get used to it over time though. With those thing being said, I did feel like it was made well.
