I saw this at a friends house and decided to see if Walmart carried it. I was happy to find it here at an unbeatable price to other locations. I did read reveiws and I don't think the can is flimsy or anything like that. It does what its supposed to do strain the particals from the oils and leave clean oil in the bottom. It washes out easily and holds quite a lot of oil and looks nice on my stove ! I am going to buy my mother one.
I purchased two of the Stanco Grease strainers for my daughter and friend. I have one and I love it. It catches unwanted particles in the grease. I keep it n the refrigerator and use the bacon grease to flavor my green beans.
I am using this as a cool pot on my thru hike. It is lightweight and gets the job done. I did have to swap knobs in top due to cooking over an open flame.
It is as others have said, fairly flimsy. There was a dent in it when I got it and it is fairly thin. That being said, it does do the job it is designed to do. I didn't hesitate to put hot grease in it. I wanted to be sure it would do what it was supposed to be able to do. Had no problems at all. So if you don't mind that it's thin then this is perfect! I really like it! :)
For the money, it's hard to beat. It would be easier to use if it had a small handle of some sort.
I had my parents' old grease strainer which was cast and developed a leak so I needed a new one. This one seems fine and well made, but where my old one was tall and about 3.5" in diameter, this one is squat an much wider so it takes up more counter space with little if no increase in capacity
Since they mail this in a bag, not a box, and since usps doesn't care a bit, it arrives all bent up. Buy it in the store instead. Unusable. Won't sit on the msr pocket rocket steady...
The container came dented because it is so thin. and gets a hot because of the same reason. So do not touch when pouring hot oil into the container until cool or wear protective cover.
It's not that I disliked the product. I liked the container; however, when I received it, not only was it scratched up, but it was also bent! I was very disappointed but didn't feel it was worth the time nor the energy to try and send it back.
received my grease strainer today, very flimsy and the shipping packaging was pure crap. it was shipped in a bubble manila envelope. The container is full of dents from the poor poor packaging. buyer beware. find one in a store and buy more vs thus. Very disappointing
