Stanley COMBINATION SQUARE 12"

The combination square is a solid piece of strong craftsmanship. Good adjustment with the screw. And if need includes a scriber & a bubble level. The metal ruler has equal measurement of both sides. This square has been great with making sure I am level and square against the wall. The leveling system is a great added piece so I don't also have to get out a level. It's light and easy to use. This is a handy multi-tool, I'm so glad I got it. It's strong and durable but best of all it made all my jobs a whole lot easier! I used it to check the hight of my table saw blade and made sure it was square. It makes 90 and 45-degree lines quick and easy to find and mark. It also makes quick work for checking the level of smaller jobs too. I even used it to check the depth of a cutout so I could match it exactly without any guessing. I was very excited to receive this square and level to evaluate. I included a photo of my old Stanley level which is steel with a broken bubble. I like this new tool because it does so many new things. It functions as a level, a 90° square, a 45° square, a metric and SAE ruler, it has a scribe and I like how the square is adjustable along the ruler. The numbers on the ruler are engraved so they will not wear off like printed ones do. This is a very valuable tool for me and can be used for so many things. This is a well made combination square for a carpenter or handy man. The square is yellow making it easy to keep track of. The ruler is etched with inches (1/16ths) and centimeter (mm) on each side. That is good enough for me. The blade is hard chrome plated. I have some expensive older combination squares which are not chrome plated and have developed a few rust spots. This square is lighter than the more expensive squares. I am trying to lighten my load so I prefer lighter tools that will last and can do the job. It came with a scribe, which is threaded and less likely to be lost in the field. The blade lock is a machined steel pin. I think the product would be better without the hole in the blade. I check the bubble level and it is dead on and easy to read. When I check the tool for being square I thought it was a little off (maybe 1/32 of an inch in 10 inches). There is a small pad on either side of the blade lock. One stroke of a file might be enough to square the blade to handle. This product is made in China. Great product! Left it outside overnight in the rain with no affect to the finish. Bright yellow color makes it easy to find when left with other tools and the scribe is handy for marking wood when I misplace my pencil. Great quality and price. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The first thing that struck me is the bright yellow color. A little loud yet at least it should be easy to find if it's misplaced. The next thing is the thickness of the metal it's made from. I have a Craftsman #39567 ( USA made) to compare it to. Guessing, Stanley may have made the product for Craftsman. The metal on your Stanley is slightly narrow on the handle. The level vial nicely secured though, as well as the scribe pin. The ruler adjuster easy to use and stays tight. The print on the ruler looks generic. Over time may wear down If the numbers were stamped in, they could still be seen when the print wears down. Would also like to see the numbers in 32nds not just 16ths I have a Stanley #46-133 ( USA made) combo square ruler. The print still strong. I give your 12 inch English/Metric Combination Square 4 stars based on the quality of the print and the fact it's made in China instead of the USA. I've owned this product for 2 or 3 projects now and am happy with the tool. This combination square is very accurate and feels sturdy. I would give the product 5 stars, however when I use this tool as a standalone ruler (with the right angle fence removed), the thumb screw falls out easily.
