The lithium battery so as long as you keep it charged up every 30 days it works great if you let it go for a long period of time the battery may die out
I have become an independent woman, so I needed a battery charger. Stanley is a great name and didn't disappoint. The only problem I had was finding an extension cord to fit to charge it. The charging port is at a weird an angle.
The Stanley starter is quite good, but it should have a replaceable battery. My old Stanley starter is in excellent condition but the battery has failed by now. NY State doesn't allow to trash rechargeable batteries, so where should I take this old unit for recycling? Should I take it to a Walmart store? Please reply, JL
Works as advertised. Portable and easy to use for all car owners. No more waiting in line at a convenience store to pump up your tires or waiting for someone from the auto store to needlessly sell you a battery that only needs a charge. Great source to recharge electronic devices in remote locations. Ordering from Walmart was easy,. Their price matched or beat competitors even with coupons. Picture of product in use enclosed.
I use this as a power source for the clock drive mount on my astronomical telescope and the USB port powers the autoguide (camera) providing periodic error corrections to the clock drive motors on the mount. Winter nights will find me out for 8-12 hours at a stretch in 15-25° temperatures. My previous tank(s) were rated @ 7 A-h and croaked after 3-4 hours. Did not fancy draining my automobile battery so this unit was an obvious choice. I'm thinking, now, about adding heater units (for the scope optics, not for the operator) with all the reserve power thisd gives me. :)
Need for more testing, but the first test wax a couple of normal jumps on a yard tractor, small 250 battery. This unit required full charge again. In fact, the manual recommends charge after every use. The unit itself is solid and had the feature needed. It could have come with a cable for charging though. The USB and the lights come in handy. Again, need more testing.
I bought this just as a precaution you never know when your batter will die in your car. I got it and charged it for about 8 hours the directions say 24 hours but I didn't want to have it lying around in the house for that long. Interestingly enough the same day I put it in my wife's car the battery died! Took it right out and it didn't work I was wondering why so I went to you tube. I didn't take the time to read the directions there is a switch that you have to turn on for safety purposes and did that and it worked! I then had to use it two days later and it worked again.
Great product, does everything it's advertised to, at a very attractive price. But how do you mess up a Schrader valve head on a pump? Ask Stanley... they know how. Everything else works, but it was very difficult to attach to my car tire valves for inflation. It's a deep head that goes low on the valve stem, but then it has a tough shoulder that doesn't want to slip over the rubber sleeve around the valve stems, so it's forced to attach shallow. Awkward and annoying.
The unit does not charge. I had it plugged in for over 24 hours, it never made it to the final charge light/stage. When I needed to use it for an emergency, it did not even give a charge to my cell phone, a simple cell phone during an emergency - the unit just died! That was the very first time to use it, only two days after 3/4 of a charge. How disappointing! I needed it for emergencies, but it did not work.
Light was broken off the side. Does not hold charge. Didn't jump my mower. Tried everything I could to get this thing to work. Junk. Also bought it new from the store.. but it was clearly used or returned. Broken, missing parts and not properly wrapped and stored in the box. Really disappointed.
