STANLEY STHT30812 16' LeverLock Tape Measure

Tape measure is good but the one on the picture I ordered was yellow and the one I received was international orange. Also it was VERY POORLY packed for shipment. I was just placed in a thin plastic bag, with no padding.

Love how it locks when measuring. No more fighting to measure a longer area with trying to keep ruler from rewinding or flipping or twisting. Stays in place until release button on bottom is pressed. Seems to be holding up well so far.

Ive owned this tape for about 8 months and absolutely love it. Great design, feels good in the hand and does the job well. Will always reccomend a stanley to get the job done right

This is my all-time favorite measuring tape. I have at least 6 of these, if not more. I have them at home, multiple shops, and at work. The Leverlock is the best way for retracting the tape, and I really like way it works. The case is nice and robust, and I've dropped it from elevated platforms with no issues. When I do wear them out, which is typically the tape itself getting nicks and dings from heavy use, I replace it with another one.

I became a fan of leverlock tape measures years ago and this one does not disappoint. Although the plastic locking surfaces wear out and no longer stop the blade from retracting, it can take years of use for that to happen. PLUS Stanley covers that problem with their warrantee!! I kept 4 tape measures that have failed for different reasons and Stanley easily replaced them!!! Now I have extras but the leverlock ones are my preferred ones to use. I wish it had the controlled retrieve notch, but that will probably come in the future. Tape measures should have had that notch years ago. This unit fits my medium hand well and the lever lock is a main feature!!!

The tape does not stay extended when I release the LeverLock. It will retract a few inches here and there, basically making the LeverLock useless for me. I have to hold the tape in place with my thumb. To make things worse, when I squeeze the LeverLock, the blade doesn't retract very well. I have to tip the tape measure up and shake it before the tape will retract.

I ordered yellow and it came as orange, normally not a big deal but in this case it was.

I don't remember where I bought it but it doesn't matter. I got it about 6 months ago after the one I had for about 10 years finally broke. About a month ago I brought it in the house to measure some things for my wife. When I pulled the ruler out the paint was getting all flaky and it was rusted where the paint came off. It is like that for about 4 feet. And you cannot see the measurement marks on the edges. It really made a mess in the house. I'll try to find the one like the older ones with the metal housing and use this one only outside.

I have had this tape measure for over a year, #30-825. I am not a carpenter so this was only used occasionally. The end broke off making the unit completely worthless. Limited warrantee is next to useless because it will cost me as much to send it in as to go down and buy another one. I guarantee it won`t be a Stanley.
