Arrived in perfect condition, I would recommend Walmart over Amazon when purchasing physical media, that way it arrives undamaged. Beautiful artwork on case and slipcover, quality of playback is excellent, WAY better audio and video than streaming in my opinion. Highly recommended!
I disliked the addition of profanity into Star Trek. The stories were good and exciting on their own with trying to dumb them down to the vulgar vernacular of uneducated Americans. It was nice to see the old crew in action but the makeup for Data and Q was embarrassing. Just write a story to why they have appeared to age. data looked like an overripe cucumber. This is a good gift for longtime Star Trek fans but I don't think the uninitiated would like it.
Great final season of Picard! Walmart sent my copy in perfect condition and it even included the slip cover which I was very happy about getting. Wal mart has been killing it in getting me my physical media lately! very happy.
I am a big Star Trek fan, dating back to the big three TV series in the late 80-90s. My favorite is, of course, TNG. Jean-Luc Picard is probably my only fictional role model. I like Season 1 and 2 of Star Trek: Picard, sure, but I couldn't shake the feeling that Picard was an old man going on an adventure with companions both too young for him. And as other reviewers have pointed out, as great as Patrick Steward is as Captain Picard, he can't carry a Star Trek series by himself. You can see immediately see from the cover of Season 3 that this is not about Picard. This is a story about the old crew of the TNG. Everyone you see in the cover has a meaningful role in the season, Dr. Crusher, Worf, and Commander Riker are main characters right alongside Picard in every episode (well, Worf in most episodes, but in a big way). Because of them, Raffi and Seven of Nine also get to shine. They are no longer paired with Picard, but with other main characters who have way better chemistry with them. Actually, Seven of Nine's best chemistry is probably with another new character: Captain Shaw of the U.S.S. Titan, one of my favorite characters in Season 3, which says a lot given how much I love the crew of the NCC-1701-D; you can almost smell the Trekkie in this guy. There are a few other surprise cameos too, I won't spoil them here. One of them is deeply touching. Just remembering some of the scenes bring me almost to tears. Nostalgia is part of it. I have always rooted for Beverly and Jean-Luc, whose lives going all the way back to the TNG drive much of the main plot of Season 3. And a scene, with just the two of them talking, brought tears to my eyes as it did Beverly's. Everyone has their moment. I have never felt so poignant about the Kobayashi Maru as when listening to Captain Shaw's now famous monologue of his survival at Wolf 359. But it's not all emotional and philosophical dialogue. There is plenty of action. Dr. Crusher is forced to vaporize someone with a phaser rifle within the first ten minutes of the series. At one point, Seven commands the Titan in a firefight that reminds me of a scene from the Japanese anime/light novel Legend of the Galactic Heroes, of all things. A couple of short physical action sequences with Jack Crusher would make John Wick proud. But it's not just the individual scenes. There is an urgency about the season that constantly drives the show forward: always a mystery to unravel, a crisis to avert, or just a fight to win. An urgency punctuated by moments of reflection. Star Trek has learned a lot from both the old series and the new movies. Is there anything bad about Season 3? Not for me, but I am a big TNG fan. If you are not, it wouldn't be as good for you. If you have never watched TNG, which is a little dated now, you won't be able to truly savor it. This is an homage to TNG and all its wonderful people. I always felt there was a gaping hole left by the end of TNG and its movies. I can't imagine a better send off.
Excellent picture and quality. Recommend!
Nice gift for someone who loves Star Trek.
The price was unbelievable from Walmart and the video is just great 👍.
The best TNG season ever!!! I own them all...
great show
The Next Generation has one final astounding adventure. And its refreshingly sincere and non-"woke". This is Star Trek and it goes all the way. Don't miss it. I had intended to give it a miss because all the modern Star Trek has just been far-left political propaganda. Instead of preaching, the writers told an incredible story with plenty of surprises and call-backs to Star Trek history.
