Star Wars Loopin' Chewie Game

The Star Wars Loopin' Chewie game is a great game for ages four and up. It is wonderful for a family, from kids to grandparents. My son is 8 and he put it together himself. There are stickers to put on the coin pieces that are supposed to be the "Stormtroopers". The "Chewie" piece (which is Chewbaca) attaches to the motor that turns around and around, and requires 2 AA batteries (which are not included). It reminds me of the hungry hippo game, but a better theme for Star Wars fans and older kids. Each player gets 3 coin "Stormtroopers" and the object of the game is to keep all three of yours, making the other players lose theirs. If you lose yours, you can still play by hitting your lever, but you lose. Each player gets a lever they hit to send "Chewie" flying in the air on his spacecraft, whether it bounces to another players coins, your own, or anywhere in between is anyone's guess. If you hit it too hard, your coin could get dropped into the player's lower area where it is counted "out". There is yellow, red, and lime green for the player's choosing. They are equally spread out in the area connected around "Chewie". It is a very simple game. No reading involved unless you have to put it together. "Chewie" is neatly designed and looks very similar to the character from the movie. The stickers seem to be of good quality and stick well. I would definitely recommend for any reason! The price isn't too far away from what I believe it should be, so it is pretty close to the quality vs quantity aspect. It is a fun game for my son and I told him I wished I had played it with him every time he's asked! I had a good time playing with him!

This game is suggested at 4+, but my three year old just LOVES playing Loopin' Chewie! Though my three year old has no clue who Chewbacca is, my boyfriend sure does. If you are looking for a nice family game that you can play with your littles this is definitely a game worth looking at. Set up took me maybe 15 minutes, and most of that was putting the storm trooper stickers on the little plastic coins. It comes with a set of instructions, which I thought were kind of terrible, as the pictures did not do justice for the instructions at all! However, when you look at the pieces it doesn't take a genius to figure out that a few clips here and there and voila! You're done! It comes in about 9 pieces (plus the 9 plastic coins) and is very easily assembled. Once you have everything set up, game play is even easier. You simply stand Chewie in an upright position, and turn the black switch to the on position. Each player has their own arm to control, you turn it on and Chewie starts circling. Each player pushes their lever trying to knock Chewie into the other players troopers, as they are trying to use Chewie to knock off your storm trooper pieces. First person to lose all three of their troopers is out of the game, and the other two players continue until a victor emerges! Fun! The arms, as well as Chewie himself, easily detach once you are done to fit back into the box for storage while not in use. I recommend putting the storm trooper pieces in some sort of plastic bag or storage container, because without these pieces there really is no point to the game. However the pieces are roughly Nickel size, and maybe they would even work as replacements?! I don't know. Anyway, if you are looking for a nice family game for everyone, from young to the young at heart, this game is sure to give you lots of fun family time together.

I received this product from the Spark Reviewer program. The game comes with a base unit, 3 paddle arms, 3 paddle units, 1 flight arm on center cone, 9 tokens, and stickers for the coins and flight unit. 2 AA batteries are required to play this game. The object of the game is to "attack" your opponents Stormtroopers and be the last player with tokens left to win. Each player chooses a paddle color red, green, or yellow and then turns on the flight center. As chewie spins around the player presses their paddle to make chewie bounce in the air to miss their coins. If they time it just right it will miss their coins and hit the next player coins. Each player has 3 coins. When the coins are hit they fall into a little slot and stay there until the game is over. Although the game says for ages 4+, my 9 and 8 year old enjoy playing it with their 6 year old sister. The pieces that come with it need to be assembled each time the game is played. They are also a little flimsy so unless played on a hard surface the paddles will not stay attached to the base making them ineffective.

Game works as expected. Three players compete by using flipping paddles to swat at a revolving millennium falcon/chewie figure. Each time the spaceship is hit it flies up, sometimes completely upside down, and hits the opponents bank of tokens. Each time the ship hits a token, the token drops down. Last one left with tokens is the winner. The coolest part about this is the revolving millennium falcon, which is smaller than expected, and has a weighted pendulum on the opposite side which creates very interesting motions as it's hit by the paddles. You can adjust the difficulty from easy to hard, by turning the paddle tips from horizontal to vertical. The unit snaps together in probably 10 minutes or less. Takes two double A batteries. I'd say this is best for probably a six year old and up. It would be nice if it had one more paddle to allow for four player competition, since most families have at least two kids. The game will work with only two to three players. I suppose you could have one player even, but you would just be doing for the fun of whacking Chewie, which is entertaining in itself. Once the game is started and Chewie starts making his rounds, the action all happens very quickly. So the game may not last that long on each play, unless the players are very skilled. It's fun none the less.

Star Wars Loopin' Chewie Game is the 2015 Star Wars version of the original Loopin Louie game from the 90's....... The game does require some assembly and the application of decals but it's a very simple process that takes very little time. Chewie flies around in a Millennium Falcon attached to a motorized base (which requires 2 AA batteries) located at the center of the game...His mission is to take all of the Stormtroopers down and each player tries to keep him away from their Stormtroopers and send him on his way to the other players by hitting the Falcon and Chewie with a paddle that sends him spinning..... The Stormtroopers are actually coins that sit in slots in front of each players paddles that they use to hit the Falcon and Chewie to chase him away and keep their Storm troopers safe....The winner of the game is the one who has coins or a coin left when the other players have lost all of their coins. Loopin Chewie was first tested for review by 3 kids ranging in age from almost 5 to 11.....The almost 5 year old had to be taught not to be so rough with his paddle since he kept knocking his own coins out....He didn't win many games but had fun trying....The game was also tested by 3 adults..ranging in age from 25 to "senior citizen"....and I think the "adults" almost had more fun than the kids.... The game is for 3 players ( I think it would be better if it was for 4) and you only get 9 coins so if even one gets lost then only 2 can play.....The Falcon and Chewie move kind of slow....even with fresh batteries...and much like anything with a Stars Wars theme it is overpriced.......but it is fun and it only requires is a little bit of dexterity...

My kids were really excited to get this and try it out, but mostly they were excited because it was Star Wars, and they really like the advertising they have been seeing on TV about the game. This is a very simple game and it is fun for the kids, but after about 20 to 30 minutes my kids were getting bored. For those that may remember this is a spin off of the game "Loopin Louie", it is the exact same game just done in a Star Wars theme. The whole point is to keep knock Chewie away from your coins with the paddle so the he can knock off the other players coins, I did find that with too much movement of the table some of the coins would fall out on there own which was a bit frustrating for the kids. It was easy to assemble, only took about 10 minutes or so, and it does require batteries, 2 AA which are not included. The detailing is nice on Chewie and the Millennium Falcon, everything else is pretty standard quality. Overall I am happy with the game, other than the coins falling out from time to time everything else worked like it should, and my kids are happy that they finally got the game they had been seeing on TV for a while.

The first thing I'd like to mention in this review is that I don't understand why the game doesn't come with the stickers already on the game pieces. That part is quite time consuming. Having said that...the game play seems to go very slow. There is an option to make it more difficult, but I don't see that it makes any difference. It's pretty cool how Chewie flys around doing flips and trying to knock the coins out. My son got bored with it rather quickly though. It is kind of hard to get a good hit on the ship if you are the player to the right. This is because the player to the left hits the ship up into the air and it usually passes right over you. It was discouraging my son to play. It's definitely more fun with three players rather then just the two. Another thing that is really irritating is if you hit the flipper too hard then it will knock the coin down into the slot where the losing coins go. I definitely think the game might be more suitable for children five and under.

As far as looks go, this game is prefect for a child. The Millennium Falcon ship has some very nice amount of detail. In fact, it could be a toy by itself with Chewy hanging out of the top. The overall concept of the game is great. It is great for hand and eye coordination with the spinning falcon and the need to act with perfect timing to keep your chips. The kids had a great time playing and it's a shame that only 3 could play at a time. My only real problem with the game is that it isn't very sturdy and the chips kept falling out of their holder whenever a kid reacted with too much enthusiasm.

Star Wars Loopin' Chewie Game is very silly. My 8 and 6 year old kids did enjoy playing this game for about one day, and then they lost interest. The main reason I selected this game was because of the Star Wars tie in, but the fascination with the game was short lived. The best parts about the game include its simple rules and the figure of Chewbacca spinning around in the Millennium Falcon. My kids really liked hitting the levers to knock Chewie around while protecting their 'Storm Troopers'. In fact, knocking around Chewie became their goal, even after all their 'Storm Troopers' were long gone. The problems with the game are varied. First, you have to put it together. The plastic barely holds together, and the joints are loose, which makes them wobble as the kids play the game. The kids did enjoy putting the storm trooper stickers on the discs, and while I put the game together the first time, my son was able to put it together on his own after that. You have to disassemble the game in order to store it in its box. Only 3 levers are included, which in my opinion is one short of maximum family enjoyment. Many games have 4 or more players, so this game leaves someone out 'of the loop'. I also think that more storm trooper discs would allow the game to continue longer. With each player only receiving 3 troopers, the game ends quickly. With twice as many troopers, the game would be prolonged and add more fun to the experience. A little Star Wars music and maybe some other Star Wars characters, like Han Solo would have been a fun way to bring the game to life. It is a very silly, simple game that could capitalize on the Star Wars theme much more effectively with a few enhancements. It will be brought out on rainy days for sure, though! No one can resist the 'Force'.

Adult help to put together. Quite a few parts. The box shows cute pictures of several star wars characters , making the game seem more exciting. No characters inside - stickers of characters only. Many pieces to misplace and 2 batteries also needed. Having a few quality characters included to go with the Millennium Falcon would have added to the excitement of the game. Because it is Star Wars - people with buy it. but when you have movable paddle, disks flying - I believe the game will not last long.
