purchased for husband who needs a little more iron in his diet. I used to use a product like this 30 years ago. So glad Swanson still has an old fashion way to get iron.

My iron level was very low for several months after extensive period of perimenopausal bleeding. After I took Blackstrap Molasses for 5 weeks my iron level bounced back to normal and I was told to stop taking iron supplements. I just wanted to mention that since I am a strict vegetarian I also take Bee Pollen supplement from Swanson as a natural source of B-12 for iron absorption.

The first time I used this product I felt energized so much I could hardly sleep. I did not take it with enough food. A really good iron supplement with a little bit of copper from the molasses! It's a nice medium potency supplement, I found it to be well absorbed and easy on my digestive tract compared to some other types. It's one of my favorites and I bought many bottles of it, too.

The size of this looks like 1000g, so what ... only 3% of that is iron (29mg).- Rice flour- Gelatin- Microcrystalline cellulose (plant fiber)...these all precede the the blackstrap molasses powder in the ingredient list. My wife was having a hard enough time with swallowing the other supplements ... will be switching to something smaller to get her the 29mg she needs.
