A camping must have!

Steve in PA September 3, 2019

Bought one and it worked so well I bought another. Why? More coverage at the campsite without moving one around due to shifting wind currents. Have two portables also. Use one on the trail clipped to my day pack while hiking. One portable nosedived into a bucket of water and after drying it out, it worked again. I use them at home in the yard and garden also. My bites welt so much I doubt I'll ever not be without this protection.

Great Product!

Phil August 10, 2017

Purchased this product and while I was reading the instructions (and before activation) I was being bitten by mosquitos. About 20 mins after the unti was activated, there were no mosquitos at all for the next 3 hours, when, I finally turned it off. This product really works as advertised.

Worked as Expected!

Davey K July 5, 2018

I sat on my back deck in the dusk hours waiting for the mosquitoes to come. Sure enough as it got dark they arrived. One, then two and more! Ouch! Then I fired up the Backpacker Mosquito Repeller and waited. I looked thru the viewing window to make sure it was on! Yay! I saw the red glow, then small puffs of smoke! Sure enough within minutes! The little buggers were gone! I sat out the rest of the evening enjoying the Starlit Sky and the three quarter Moon rising up! Awesome! Thank you Thermacell!

Very impressive!

phatjaxx August 7, 2017

Finally got a chance to try this baby out. We were at Duck Lake near Mammoth Lakes, Cali Sierras and had lots and lots of mozzies to try this out on. Had an effective rate of almost 100%...you'd see them just fly by...my three friends were very impressed. Great product, fair price...but best of all...it works!

To put in sack, keep it right side up

BbyDaH2O October 8, 2025

Backpacker Mosquito Repeller: Heard some say it not fit in its sack. But it does, just do no insert it upside down in the bag, just keep it right side up, narrower end downward, easier way in. Then once you get to the wide top, gently wiggle the sack over it, and so easy does it all slide in softly. It's so/that easy. I like it when I cannot use or depend on skin, clothing or body chemicals, net or incense, and when I cannot use a battery version.

On/Off Switch issue

Philippe June 29, 2025

I've used my Thermacell Backpacker Mosquito Repellent for two summers, going through 15 Thermacell mats. Now, the fuel seems to flow and burn more intense, regardless of whether the switch is ON or OFF.

Great When it Stays Lit

Ticked Off June 1, 2021

I have more than a few Backpackers but they all experience a problem staying lit using ISO-Butane/Propane canisters. When the unit goes out, you can only reignite it by turning it off, unsealing & resealing the fuel canister and reigniting. Is this a fuel brand problem? I it a vapor lock problem? Is it a Backpacker valve problem?? Regardless it is frustrating and annoying and I no longer recommend these to anyone.
