[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Seals well an sunlight and waterproof Cleans up wood so am getting a second life from same existing
I bought Thompson’s WaterSeal clear coat product to waterproof my four new wood raised garden beds. The waterproofing worked very well because soon after I finished applying two coats it rained. The water only beaded up on the surface. Cleanup was easy with soap and water and I am happy with the clear finish because the wood grain looks nice.
This is a very effective and long lasting Water Sealer I put it on my wood deck. It is not colored or tinted . It is totally natural and lets the look of your natural deck wood show through and makes the water bead up when it rains. I use a Walmart 2 gallon manual hand sprayer and also a one gallon Walmart hand sprayer to apply this product. The sprayers work great and fast . Even ladies and children can tote the one gallon sprayer. And this clear Thompson's will not hurt other materials if you get over spray on those areas..... Also I spray this Thompson's Clear WaterSeal on anything outside that is wood to keep it from rotting. A little of this WaterSeal goes a long way. It works for me. And quick plain water cleanup too.
I used this water seal on a 10 x 14 porch with railings. I purchased 5 gallons Wich was way more than I needed because I couldn't find the clear in 1 gal cans, now I have almost 4 gallons left over.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this Thompson’s WaterSeal on wood, and I was very happy with the results! It’s very easy to use and apply, and it goes on evenly and doesn’t affect the appearance of the wood. Although it advises letting it dry completely for 24hrs, I found that it dries quickly (but I do still recommend waiting the full 24hrs before any water exposure). On my test piece pictured, you can see the water beading up where the waterproofer was applied. I’ll be interested to see how well it holds up over time and with consistent exposure, but so far I’m very satisfied with no complaints!
The can was severely dented upon delivery. I don't know if that was the reason why, but I was unable to open the product for use. It has a plastic loop that you grab to pull up on - to make the spout protrude for use. On this can the loop broke loose, and I never could get the spout up out of the can - rendering it useless. I returned it to my local Walmart for a refund and then bought some small cans off the shelf. They were much easier to maneuver. Just to reiterate - I was not able to use the product in the can, so this review is not about how well the liquid worked for me. I've tried multiple times to upload a photo, to no avail.
The Thompson's water seal looked like milk when I poured it into my sprayer. I didn't think this was right but needed to seal my new wood fence and had taken the day off work so I pushed forward. The Thompson's water seal was a mess when I sprayed it on so I watched a video. Obviously something was wrong with my product but I had already started so I used a paint roller and rolled each slat of the fence to "smooth" it. I still need more to finish my fence but will not be purchasing Thompson's water seal from Walmart. Maybe it was old or had been exposed to extreme heat or cold but that was $80.00 wasted.
Once applied, this sealer caused dark streaks to form on your driveway that we are told may or may not disappear over time! I do NOT like the way it looks on my driveway and ceased using the product once it became evident what was going on!
Review is more for the way the item arrived which had numerous huge dents all over the can. Paid almost a hundred dollars for this and there is no reason for it to arrive as smashed as it was.
this product must be defective! It has large chunks of qualitatively material that will not pass through my sprayer. Please help . This water seal will not work
