I love being able to catch the mice and let them go in the woods. I always hated setting the traps and worrying that it will snap on your finger.
The trap worked effectively, and I was able to capture and release the furry intruder overnight.
It works depending on the mouse..A small mouse can walk in and out, it needs weight to close.. you have to play with the position of the trap...A more aggressive mouse will eat its way out leaving a big hole, and trap is useless..But on average I catch more mice than not, and the hard to get ones usually will get caught..Unfortunately, I feel sorry for them, and have kept them as pets. They are cute, what can I say.
The trap relies on the weight of the mouse to set it off. It sets off very easily though and have had several false catches from our heating system's vibrations causing it to spring. The product itself comes with two traps. One of the trap lids was installed upsidedown and had caused it to warp that installing it right-side-up, the trap would not work properly. However, merely by warping it back and holding it in place for several minutes caused it to work properly again. The trap has very basic instructions that tells you to put the two traps back-to-back. I never actually done this, but given how easily they are set off, I would recommend doing this in order to help keep the traps stable. We had kill traps set for a mouse living under our oven while we waited for these to arrive. He lived long enough for these traps to arrive and be set for several days just to wander into a kill trap. So I can not say how well these traps can actually hold a mouse. There is a simple catch that prevents the lid from being as easily raised as it is lowered. Between that and the smooth lid interior, I would imagine that if a mouse was caught inside, he probably could not escape on his own. And chances are he'd be stuck inside with his butt facing the door. The size of the trap is significantly smaller than what I had been given the impression of from the website's picture. Definitely could not catch actual rats, but just mice. In conclusion, I would suggest you only purchase this product if you wanted to live-catch small to medium-sized mice and were so hard on a budget that you could not afford something better. That said, I think it is decent enough of a live trap for less than seven dollars.
One of these traps actually did catch a mouse but the other one (well both of them) was so poorly made that it was unusable as a trap.
on one package, the small locking catch was already broken, rendering the item useless. . . . . . . . . also, if you don't get to the trap soon enough, the mice will actually chew through the plastic.
When I ordered this device I was hoping to catch something besides a tiny trap you could mount on a rat. This item is so small, I was planning to post an open sign as a hotel for cockroaches! How am I supposed to catch anything live that uses four legs, and how is the tail supposed to fit inside? The actual size is comparable to a 1year olds shoe size approximately four inches long and an inch wide. Don't buy this unless you actually want a miniature that you could fit in a model doll house.
Don't buy this. These are poorly made. They do not snap shut securely at all. Not sure how this item was ever approved.
Horrible! Mouse walks in...mouse walks out. Very tiny, not worth the money! Do Not Purchase!! Buy the have a heart trap instead. I purchased that one after and it works beautifully!
Three times I tried to catch the mouse and all three times the mouse he got the pb or cheese and then escaped. I followed the instructions completely too.
