It's a very vivid dark red, but it tastes like salt. I'm curious about what has been the ceremonial use for this salt ... well checking online, " a sacred, powerful healing tool that was used as an ancient treatment for broken bones, bug bites, burns, and various other ailments. Alaea Hawaiian Red Sea Salt was used to cleanse and purify as well as bless tools, canoes, homes and temples" ... could be it has ORMUS(?) Volcanic clay ... hmm.

This fine slat should replace your table salt!
I've had Red Alaea Salt before and LOVE IT. This version is a bit saltier but not by a lot. I was pleasantly surprised when I used it in baking instead of the table salt I ran out of. HONESTLY the best frikken zucchini/apple muffins I've ever made! This will be a staple from now on!

This is a salty taste, and adds a bit of color to a dish. It does taste slightly like ocean, there are claims that it has minerals that you can't get from other salts.

Not as pictured.
Not as pictured. The picture shows coarse grains, which I intended to out in a grinder. What I received is fine grain salt.
