This charcoal grill is the perfect size when cooking for about three people. It is a sturdy grill and lightweight. The grill is easy to use and it cooks the food with an even temperature.
This grill is supplemental to my Genesis. Since 1975, I've owned a Smokey Joe, a Kettle Grill, a Performer, a Smokey Mountain and a Genesis. So I have a lot of experience with Weber. I love this little 18 1/2” Kettle Grill. If I feel like the flavor of charcoal over the Genesis one night, it's an easy transition. If I feel like low and slow smoking (225-250) I can do that too. I can get still a nice smoke ring using it. (My WSM is at our cabin.) I did add the ash pan to it. It's extremely easy to install and makes cleaning the kettle much easier. Also I use an oven thermometer inside the kettle for insurance on the temp. I'd highly recommend it. RC.
Bought this to round out my collection. I have a 22 premium, a Smokey Joe and a Go Anywhere. All great grills and get used frequently. My wife and I are empty nesters now, and I don't cook for large groups as much as I used to. I found myself needing something intermediate sized for times the 22 was too big, and the others were a tad too small. This fills the gap perfectly and uses less fuel than the 22. I've pretty much dedicated this as my hot and fast grill using lump charcoal. Couldn't be more pleased.
Just what I wanted! Only downside it was alittle tricky to put together on some areas, but we got and its a perfect size grill for 2 people! I save on charcoal too!
An American original. Accept no substitute! This like the Ford Mustang, it's gone through some changes but the original heart of the matter is still there. So, if you're a patriot, if you fly the flag proudly every day, then park a Weber in your back yard and get to grilling.
Have been using this for the last few weeks. Good temperature management, good quality build and just the right size. The only addition i wish it had would be some kind of a hook for the top drill to hang, while I add more or reorganise the charcoal.
For years I had abandoned a charcoal kettle for the convenience of a gas grill. Recently, my wife found an 18" Weber kettle on sale and brought it home to surprise me. Using some lump charcoal I began experimenting with chicken, steaks, and recently as a side choice for Thanksgiving, some country style ribs. What a difference! And the flavor is over-the-top delicious! The trade off in immediate convenience for flavor is well worth it in our opinion! The ribs were the choice vs the turkey this Thanksgiving. I'm planning on trying a crown pork roast on the Weber for Christmas dinner. Very pleased with the results. Would buy again. Ha!
This is a great grill, overall. I've used Weber grills for at least 10 years, and appreciate their simple, but effective approach to grilling. Their grills are phenomenal at retaining heat, managing airflow, and enduring the elements. The only issue I have with this 18” grill, is the catch tray. If it isn't securely locked in place with the spring clamps, it can easily be knocked over, spilling ashes everywhere.
Our lil Weber is perfect for the two of us. From smoking an 8lb pork butt, to 6-8 chicken thighs, and more, it fits just enough food to make meals for two for the week. I just wish it had a thermometer to make it slightly easier to gauge the temps on those windy afternoon grill days.
I bought this Weber grill to replace my older Weber that lasted for at least 10 years. I hate to say this but I'm not happy with this one because it's not doing its job. Will not get hot enough to cook, it's difficult to get more charcoal in the pit once you start cooking on it. The smaller opening in the center could use a better way to open rather than my pliers. I should've just bought new parts for my old Weber grill instead of wasting money on this newer model.
