Shipping was fast, got it and tried it on my st switch it would not work called Westinghouse they said it was probably the controller modular they are sending a new one. I have a 7500 Westinghouse it works great. I just have to wait and see if the part works on the 9500 when I get it. But all in all, these generators are verry well-built and work great.
The generator with options of natural gas costs more than a dual or single fuel source. The natural gas connection from the gas meter to the generator works best if the distance is no more than 20 feet long. If the distance is more than 20 feet, the hose or line must be bigger than 1/2 inch (standard size) so it can provide adequate natural gas (cubic feet) per natural gas rating (you can find out by checking with your power generator manual for the natural gas rating). In my situation, the electrical panel and the gas meter are about 130 feet measure along the fence and across the back yard around the garage where the electrical panel is found. Because the distance is 130 feet, I would need 1 inch hose. The 1-inch hose works best but the cost of the 1-inch hose and quick connect adaptors to ½ inch is hard to find and it would be too expensive. So, I decided not to use natural gas. Other than that, the power generator works well running on gasoline and propane gas.
The whole packaging and shipping was great, not a scratch nor issue whatsoever for it to arrive to the cabin. The best part of this is that it started with one pull since charging the battery to allow it to charge up. Then after the charge, the push button start was basically instant. The remote start is my favorite feature of all!!! Dual fuel too? OMG, best thing ever, imagine having a 1500 gallon propane tank topped off once a year? What I’ll do is refill my extra five gallon or 25 gallon tanks! I’m building a generator room with tons of louvers and roof vents for airflow. And the exhaust side will have aluminum around the whole wall to ensure no fires happen a lot of flame resistant sprays all throughout. Bottomline, best investment ever!
on Friday, January 5th, 2024, i used the Westinghouse 9500 generator for the second time since i purchased the product with a 3 year warranty for over $1k. this unit has less than 30 or so hours on it. contacted Westinghouse since Walmart wouldn't take it back at all. beware in buying 3rd party items from Walmart. since then, Westinghouse has given me the run around several times , told me false information and promised things that haven't happened thus far. i was told management would contact me yesterday to no avail. i was told a new unit would be shipped today, 1-10-24, since there is an arctic blast coming through Texas. yet I received an email from Westinghouse with shipping instructions to ship the faulty unit back. totally contradictory to what i was told earlier today, which was that they would ship out a new unit today so that i can ship the faulty unit back in the packaging that the new one comes in. At this point I'd rather have paid a little more to get a different brand locally so i didn't have to deal with Westinghouse. their communications lack in consistency and professionalism.
I am very disappointed in their service department . The first try out of the box IT DID NOT START . I am using LP and all it does is backfire (yes went thru the book for trouble shooting), so called to get a tech they said within 24 to 48 hours will be contacted LOL !! didn't happen . Being nice and shinny and new doesn't cut it if it won't run . I would have not written this review if I would have gotten the help I deserve . Was it in the reject pile and I just happened to draw the short straw and get it . Still waiting on that call.
My package was sitting out in front of my house in front of my garage not tucked away by the front door like it should’ve been. I got no notification that it was there, meaning no text no email no nothing. The box is damaged. this is a high dollar item and it was left unattended by a driver, they should’ve given anybody a heads up call text whatever. That’s his common courtesy.
Refused delivery because the package was torn and through the torn package I could see that the generator itself was also damaged around the gas tank. Even the delivery driver said that it had been loaded on his truck wrong and been trying to move other things around and over it for 3 days. Every time I try to contact either Walmart or the seller, I keep being told to check back in 48 hrs. Now a month later and still no generator or refund. Trying to get a person for customer service and who can go off script these days is ridiculous,
so i bought the tri fuel version generator. when it is running on gasoline or propane it runs perfect with no problems but when i try running it on natural gas it likes to randomly shut down and wont just stay running very long. i contacted customer support and after a few emails back and forth they gave my case to a customer support manager named kyle who emailed me asking for a date and time to call me to discuss the issue. i replied with a date and time that was 7 days later and i never recieved a phone call, i then called customer support back 2 more times to leave kyle a message and still no reply back, i sent several replies back to the original email and never got another reply back from kyle, its been about 3 weeks now since the first email and i have yet to get a reply from kyle. the only reason i bought a tri fuel generator was so i could run it on natural gas only and not gasoline or propane, this generator is useless to me in that capacity though and westinghouse customer support has been a joke. i will never buy another westinghouse product again and i now regret buying a $1200 dollar generator that supposedly comes with a 3 yr warranty that appearently wesinghouse doesn't actually honor.
Delivery guy dropped the generator front of the garage without any notice or ringing the bell. Hours later , the same delivery guy with same truck came back and took the package back to his truck and marked it as delivered . Be aware of this seller as may be scamming customers. I have it all recorded with my home cameras. Seller is not responding or giving any information about the delivery problem . First bad experience with Walmart delivery and third party sellers .
I spent 3 hours trying to get it started, no go. Called customer support, they said parts and labor were covered but I'd have to take it to a 3rd party to have it serviced at my cost. I called the recommended 3rd party, they said they won't service Westinghouse anymore because of lack of response and follow up with parts. Extremely disappointed in product and service, still trying to figure out how to have it serviced. Beware.
