Midwest Can Company, 5 Gallon Capacity Gas Can with Flame Mitigation Device, Red

The locking gas caps for half of the containers didn't properly match the container's lock tab, requiring me to shave them with a knife in order to effect an air-tight closure. The caps were all identical but the containers were distinctly different. {poor quality control?)

Exactly what I needed for my over landing trip to Big Bend National Park, where gas is scarce. The delivery was overnight, which I was skeptical of but purchased anyway. Wow, it only took them 15 hours to have them on my doorstep. This beat Amazon's delivery estimate of 7 days. Good price and fast delivery = No brainier! Fast delivery is a very pleasant surprise. This 5 gallon gas container is a extremely high quality item made very substantial and thick material compared to any brand I've ever used at any price. Immediately feel the quality when you pick this up, it has 2 handles one on top and one on the side that makes it easier to lift, hold and pour and feels balanced. Where all these containers have problems is with the pour spout. This one fits tightly in the full container and doesn't leak and is easy to take out and screw back on top for pouring. Because of government regulations they have to have a safety pour spout and this one has to be unlocked each time to pour. It's not difficult it's just kinda different to unlock and pour. This Midwest can is crafted and a product of the USA.

The gas can is heavy duty! Real nice. Not vented so it doesn’t stink up the car. But the nozzle leaves much to be desired! As a 67 yr old disabled person, I cannot pinch, push, lift, hold, maneuver it. With the old-style yellow nozzle, I could simply lift it up and pour. This one is ridiculous. And that little red clip popped off the first use. I didn’t know if it went in my zero-turn’s gas tank or not. It just popped right off about 4 seconds after I started filling the tank. You pinch a red clip, then squeeze the end of the nozzle towards the can to release the gas as you rest the 40 pound can on the rim of the gas tank. Nope! It just does not work like that. The weight of the can, even with me holding it, just popped that red clip right off! I’ll take that yellow nozzle ANY day!

Nice heavy duty gas can. Heavier HDPE than my old cans that have sprung leaks. I ordered 2 cans. 1 can is missing the red dust cap. Not Midwest Can's fault. Walmart employee should have noticed it missing. I started a return but it isn't worth the trouble.

Fast delivery, package well, two handles for handling.. Nozzle support should be longer and thicker. This short support allows can to easily to slip and potentially fall away from user INJURY POTENTIAL. SLEEVE INSIDE NOZZLe limits use of transfer pump. Provide instruction to remove this nozzle strainer.

Needed new gas cans and these were priced better than other brands. The tab you push in to allow the spout to activate is hard for old arthritic hands but I did it and had no leaks. All spouts I've seen have had their faults. I would purchase again.

Has a filter stuck in the nozzle which interferes with the way I fill my lawnmower tanks (I siphon gas from the gas cans in the bed of my truck down into the mowers, when the cans are full they are too heavy for me to lift) and I haven't figured out how to remove it yet. I am sure there is a way. Also there is a stopper device and a flange in the cap which is difficult to get a good seal on and I am pretty sure I will eventually lose both pieces as they are loose and small and then I will have to replace them.

I have to remove the spout to add gas to my mower unless I go old school, remove their nozzle, use a funnel or siphon hose if too heavy. I am accustomed to flipping the flexible spout provided. This spout is not user (me) friendly.

I have had 2 units shipped to me and neither had the screw on cap.
