They are solid. I have had issues with other punches bending when you use the smaller diameter one. I haven't had any problems with the wheeler punches at all
Nice set. Well made and an easy way to stay on your roll pin.
Lot of different sizes of punches and they come in a nice pouch that keeps them separated by size. I will probably only use 2-3 of the different sizes but this is a very complete set. These are made in China but the light use I expect to use them in I do not expect any issues with quality.
I've used these punches on 1 build so far. I have a difficult time tying it up similarly to the picture. Regardless of that, these are a good set of punches for the price. A quality set could run you $100 or more. So, for the price, these pin punches are totally worth it. If you're looking for something you'll use a lot, or for your job; I recommend choosing a higher tier set of punches.
For the price, they're pretty good punches. They do what they're designed to do and are perfect for my few builds. These aren't $100+ professional tools (obviously). They're not meant for the frequent gunsmith. They're for the guy who does small projects/builds. I would recommend these for the guy who is just starting to get into builds.
These are the "right tool" to drift out roll pins, while properly supporting the pins "hole".For stubborn pins,I usually use a roll pin punch "starter" first. This set,.like everything Wheeler makes, are a good value for the home firearms hobbyist.Buy 'em!
I have used a lot of wheeler products over the years with satisfactory results. These roll pin punches will get the job done and they are designed not to slip on the roll pin. Most people are not building ARs a lot and when the need for a roll pin punch is there these will work just fine.
The quality of these sets is perfectly acceptable and are offered at a reasonable price. The tools appear to have been in storage for an extended period of time as a light coating of rust has begun to form in spots. A quick wipe with some steel wool and a shot of silicone spray returned the tools to "new" condition.
Not a bad punch set for the price, but I was disappointed to see it was made in China. For a couple of dollars more, I believe you can buy a Grace set made in the USA. The finish is definitely not as good as it could be. A little coarse because they just blackened the steel without polishing it.
Used 1/16 & 1/8 for AR15 trigger replacement.Small 1/16 punch would not stay striight. It kept bending and the tip peened back while replacing the trigger guard plunger.I would not buy this product again!
