Great for bore sighting and cleaning!

Shoot270 April 18, 2014

Lots of adjustments to handle any gun and any angle for cleaning. Also held my rifle very steady while I mounted and leveled a scope. kind of expensive, but still the most useful vise in it's price range.

The Best Gun Vise

MikeO October 22, 2016

Great price, easy to use. Easily set up, adjusted and changed for different gun cleaning or maintenance jobs. Light, easy to store. Well made, durable adjusters. Good price. A very good investment.

Decent product for most applications.

Wellhelpmeouthere June 13, 2014

I have a decent selection of rifles to choose from ranging from air rifles, to long distance marksman rifles, so I tested this product pretty well. I works pretty well for just about all rifles as long as the butt stock isn't too complicated. It had some problems squaring off my SIG 556 stock so I had to fill the opening with a custom plywood spacer but you can't expect everything. I also hand to make a couple of custom shims for the fore end to level out a couple of rifles for mounting scopes. Its too shaky to use for much more than a light maintenance and cleaning stand. The biggest issues are the lock down arms in the back, when you use the quick locks, it really flairs out the sides of the unit. This is not a gun smithing stand. It is a light duty cleaning stand but it is plastic and aluminum so it can be used for cleaning other things other than firearms and you can just rinse the unit off with a garden hose when your get done. Works really well as an inexpensive all around light duty repair station, just not as well as it should for a gun vise.

works as well as expected

This tool works pretty well as long as you respect its limitations. It is made of mostly plastic and you cannot crank down on the clamps excessively. I expect it will do well for the jobs I use it for.

initial quality B-

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Read a lot of reviews and decided on this vise. Upon assembling, found that one of the knobs had not been threaded adequately. Called Tipton customer service, they are sending me a new knob no questions asked. Have yet to receive the knob. Other than that, I am happy with the purchase. A bit pricey for molded plastic but what isn't these days.

Good for what it is.

Sarkus March 18, 2017

I needed a vise for a project I was working on. Asking around, this is what was commonly recommended. It's good for what it is, just not for what I needed. I ended up having to buy another vise in my case. What this is good for is stabilizing a firearm for maintenance or putting an optic on. It's well designed for those tasks with small storage spots and other useful features. The downside is that it's not really a vise. At best you can moderately lock down the stock of a rifle, but it won't hold against any real torque and easily releases under pressure.

Butt clamp sloppy

DresdenHeep October 11, 2014

The machining and fit of this vise are disappointing. The plastic quick-release paddles at the butt clamp do not engage solidly. One side, in fact, is defective on the vise I got. It will not travel enough for a positive engagement with the spring loaded clamp. There are screws that hold the mechanism together, and maybe an adjustment would fix it, but why should I have to do that? How is it that an airgun, costing about the same, can be built with so much tighter tolerances and overall quality? I am returning it.

Its labeled as a gun vise, but it really doesn't secure your weapon like a vise. It does hold it and provides a good workspace for firearms but dont expect to be able to level it, and perform lapping for scope rings. Although I managed its made of plastic and doesn't provide a good stable hold

Sub-Par

MrN September 26, 2020

Really a disconcerting and uncomfortable vise for the AR-15. This vise is fine for sight adjustment, etc., but NOT for heavy duty mods (barrel wrench removal and so forth). For the price, pretty disappointed. Returning this and will get some Olympia or Teckton vise grips.
