Best cocoa for baking. A little expensive, but the best quality.
Great for my dark chocolate cookies! Rich chocolate flavor and a nice big container.
I use cacao and maple syrup with my morning coffee. Ordered organic cacao from WM previously: Best Naturals and Viva Naturals. Great products. Hershey's, Nestle's, Trader Joe's cacao are other brands on my list. Decided on giving Windcrest a try for the additional half pound benefit, and the Dutch alkali processing. The chocolate is dark, dense, excellent taste, lump free. The plastic mug is easier to store and handles better than two pound bags. Pricing is on par for quality and quantity.
I like the taste that comes with the Dutch refining process of chocolate. To me it taste better, without leaching out all of the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that are naturally occurring within the chocolate itself.
This is the second time buying this cocoa. Bought the first at the start of the pandemic. It is excellent and makes a difference in baked goods.
I RATE THIS AS DELICIOUS as Ghirardelli Premium Baking Cocoa 100% Cocoa Dutch-Process and that is what I was hoping!!! The pricing on this was way more affordable than Ghirardelli for me and that's why I ventured out to try ;-)
Great chocolate taste..made coffee hazelnut cookies and they turned out with great chocolate flavor and was not overwhelmed from the coffee
Rich cocoa flavor, No complaints from those eating the recipes that called for cocoa.
The powder is as good as Hershey's. There doesn't seem to be a detectable difference to me. When used with espresso and stout, it makes an incredible cake with deep, dark color and a bold chocolate flavor. For a novice or beginning baker, (yes, like me), don't buy this. It is way too much. There are other products with smaller volumes that would be a better fit. Nothing about quality, only quantity. Good luck!!
I bought this one because of the Dutch process, and I admit the size was nice and a tub instead of a bag. The reviews were also favorable and I didn't want to wait on shipping from Amazon of my usual product, Nunaturals organic cocoa. While I was excited to get the tub, that didn't hold true for the cocoa itself. I use this for baking and smoothies and a few others things. To start off I dipped my pinkie in for a little taste and was not happy. While this may be Dutch processed, it seems they didn't get the alkalinity to neutral, this is bitter, much like any regular baking cocoa (Hershey's comes to mind). After the bitterness goes away there's a nice chocolate flavor, very rich. I thought, OK, I'll try it in one of my muffins. While the taste is OK, you do get a good chocolate flavor, what I didn't get was the really silky feel that you should get. I'll be ordering the nunaturals and find some other use for this in something that will neutralize the alkalinity.
