My husband and I own several other Fiskars tools so we knew this would be a quality item. It did not disappoint. This is not some dinky cultivator like my Gran had - this one is large, well made and sturdy. My husband and I love to garden but our ground in East Texas tends to be hard as a rock. This cultivator makes short work of that dirt with its large, flat tines! We are currently in the “get all of the weeds out” stage of creating a rock bed around our house's foundation and this little tool is really making a difference! It is a great addition to our yard tool bag!
This is a great gardening tool. The handle has a cushioned grip and is long enough to get some good leverage on weeds. I have St. Augustine grass, but in the Fall and Spring, a low-growing weed grass blows in and spreads along the edge of the sidewalk. The claw end of this tool allows me to grab straight down and get the root and it pulls the weed right out. It helps if the ground is a little wet. I don't have to struggle to clear the weeds because this tool is so strong. It has a stainless steel fork/claw. And, even though it is a garden tool, I use it daily in my cat's litter box to loosen the litter. After that, it is then so easy to just scoop through the tilled litter and lift out.
I'm not sure if it's more beautiful or more useful! You just can't beat stainless steel, it takes a beating and still is beautiful. This Cultivator is extremely strong and does not wimp out, no bending here. I can't believe how quickly my job got done so I planted more than I intended to. The handle has a grip that is comfortable yet easy to hold on to.
I had the great opportunity to try out The Fiskars Xact Hand Cultivator, 1 Piece, Orange and Black gardening tool. I have 1/3 of an Acker of land so I need and use all kinds of gardening and yard tools. I recently started planting some plants in front of my house and The Fiskars Xact Hand Cultivator was a big help. I have to remove weeds and leaves from the base of my plants weekly. I absolutely recommend The Fiskars Xact Hand Cultivator for anyone who wants to try planting flowers or plants in their yard.
This has a strong feel to it and is comfortable in my hand. Great for clearing out and loosening up soil/mulch around my raised beds and loosening up the soil in my container plants. The metal teeth are sturdy enough to power through even tough soil without bending. I'm glad to have it in my garden - will be using in all seasons!
I didn't expect this to be so sturdy and solid. It feels like it will last a good long while and the tines will not bend easily when digging tough ground like we have in Arizona. I'm impressed with the ability to dig through our caliche here and not weaken. This seems like it will last a long time.
Being brand new to the world of gardening, it has been overwhelming to say the least to find the right products that can help "cultivate" my skills. Currently, I have been into growing fresh herbs for my recipes. This cultivator is marvelous, and it has aided me grow positively beautiful and healthy rosemary plants. It is something that will last for many years.
Right away it's evident that this cultivator is a sturdy item. No one & done stuff here. And pictures don't really do it justice either. I think “formidable” is the key word I'd use to describe its physical presence. Don't let your youngsters get ahold of these until they're “far enough along” to really be of help as gardeners. The handle is of an extra length for better leverage - and it offers a right-sized, ergonomic grip that works well either bare-handed or gloved. It's just “sticky” enough to easily maintain control either way. I haven't really given this tool its proper torture-test yet. I'm only the junior gardener here. But I'm certain it will work out marvelously well for our modest backyard container garden and any other projects we decide to take on. We live in a high-desert foothill micro-climate at 4900 elevation. Last year an ill-timed frost reduced our yield to zero. This year looks much better so far. We're hoping to successfully host squash, tomatoes and greens. Simple and staple. Wish us luck!
Fiskars Xact hand Cultivator is very heavy duty. I have had many, other brands, in the past and they either brake off at the handle, rust off or bend. The Fiskars Xact hand Cultivator will last a life time. I am sure of it. I love it, I highly recommend it and will be using it often.
I bought this cultivator because of the way the end looks. This is not a traditional cultivator. It has a more curved end where the rake end is. It gives a different feel in your hand because of the angle. The tines are very thick and I think this is a well constructed product. It ripped through the large weeds that we had in the flower bed. However, for the tiny weeds, it was not as successful as the more traditional cultivator. The only downfall to this product is the weight. It is super heavy for a cultivator. So, with that being said, that is my only complaint. This will definitely go in the garden tools because you can never have enough of these. However, I think this is the one that I will let my helper use and I will stick with the more traditional product.
