Product worked as described. Ground needs to be a little bit moist for the plugs to come out easier and hold together. But overall very useful for patching dead areas versus over seeded.
It works well if the ground is moist. The 'Donor" plugs require a rubber mallet to bang out which I expected. I've only done 20 plugs so far but it is holding up. My donor plugs have really good roots. Because of this I had to really rock the handle quite a bit to pull the plug out of the ground.
Simple to use. Makes planting 3 inch plugs a breeze. It took 25 minutes for me to plant 64 plugs. Well worth the price.
Works as advertised, just need to make sure your soil isn't rock hard. Best time to use is after rain.
Works great. Cuts a nice rectangle-shaped hole for plugs. I know it's durable because my clay soil gets wedged in the cutting area and I have to turn the thing upside down and bang the soil release button on the ground a few times to get it to come out....and I haven't broken it yet!
This is on a few other reviews as well. It's very dull and initially I couldn't get it to go into the ground despite putting all of my 260 lbs on it. I sharpened it with an angle grinder and managed to get it to work, but I couldn't get it perfect. The metal is also extremely soft so I don't expect this one to last a long. The design is good and if they used better metal and sharpened it would be a 5 star.
Somewhat disappointing. Not sure if it's just my ground, but I was unable to successfully pull out any plugs. With great effort, I managed to get the plugger to cut into the ground, but when I lifted, the plug would not come out.
Sent to wrong address, even after going through the process of submitting a new shipping address. Supposed to be a present. Not very good service.
It was too hard to use. You really have to put some weight onto it and jump into it.
This item is extremely hard to use and hence not functional if you have a hard soil with thick grass. Its literally impossible to push through the grass sod. It does not even goes half inch in the soil. I have other yard butler tools which are fine but this one failed completely.
