I ordered 8 coir bricks of 1 .4 lbs each for a total of 11.2 lbs. What I received was 9.3 lbs which is only 83% of what I paid for. Where is the other 17%? Or 1.9 lbs???? It looked like such a good deal, but the bricks are mislabeled by weight. I weighed the whole order on a digital kitchen scale...if the whole order was the correct weight, I wouldn't have minded that each brick's weight varied.
So this is advertised for plants and gardening. I've tried other coco coirs that expand at least within the first hour. The zeedix is NOT one of those. I've had them soaking underwater for 2 days and they've not expanded past maybe 1/4th of an inch. I had to break them up in the water for them to expand further but even then it wasn't at all what i'm used to seeing. Probably look elsewhere for something a more manageable.
This company send me a package without any product in the box!! Scammer!! I spoke with the Fed ex driver she stated the box documents almost 9 pounds she said she noticed the package was really light. I called Walmart they immediately gave me a refund please be aware of purchasing from this company!!
I left one of the bricks in water for 4 days with no expansion or breakdown. It was still hard as a, well, brick and I could barely even chip parts off for use. I replaced it with bricks from tractor supply and they expanded in minutes. Very disappointed.
s I ak in water two days and still like a ston
I have used coco coir many times over, but not from this seller, these bricks were almost insoluble. I had to soak them for over four days and still had to break them up by hand into small chunks and then I still had large pieces that were hard as rocks. This also had a strange chemical smell that I’ve never had experience with any other coco coir
I order a LOT of coconut coir. I usually buy large bricks but occasionally I’ll buy small bricks, like these, and I’ve been a big coir user for a little over a decade now. This is the first time I’ve ever been so appalled by the poor quality that I actually feel scammed. Let me tell you why: (1) I have a system for hydrating small bricks. I toss one into a bucket, fill it with water, and give it about 30 minutes to hydrate. When I come back, the bucket is usually full of soil. If there’s too much water, I pour the wet coir into a felt/fabric pot and let it drain. So when these bricks of coir arrived, that’s what I did. I unwrapped a brick, tossed it into a bucket, filled it with water, and let it sit. After 30 minutes, it hadn’t hydrated at all. It was just a wet brick. Fine. I figured it might need a little more time so I broke it up a bit with a gardening knife and left it to sit overnight. The next morning, it was still sitting in the bucket in chunks—wet on the outside and dry on the inside. At that point, I knew something was seriously off. While it seems to be some kind of fibrous, vegetal, presumably coconut material, it’s nothing like normal coir. (2) As I broke the chunks down with my hands, I noticed there were pieces of plastic in the material. So far I’ve fished out 8 separate pieces of plastic from that one brick. (3) This is what I found to be the most offensive (though the plastic is a close second): the final hydrated material doesn’t even come close to the volume advertised. One brick, fully hydrated, produced about a half gallon of material. The description claims it produces 2.4 gallons of material. To my mind, this massive difference puts it into scam territory. I decided to hydrate a second brick in the hope that the issue was just a one-off. Like the first, I found plastic, it failed to hydrate properly or expand, and it produced—again—about half a gallon of material. I don’t get angry often. When products fail to live up to expectations, I usually move on. But these bricks are so appalling, I had to write a review to warn others. Do not buy these.
Purchase the item, added water and it didn't expand. I had it in water for 36 hours and it still didn't expand much. Even after those hours, I ended breaking it open to separating the coco chior, it didn't expand as it would normally do with others that I used. I would not recommend this item. Waste of money. I find another brand and buyer. I ended up getting a new block from another local store.
This product is not coco coir that you would expect to buy. It could possibly be a coconut product but it is fribrous and non-porous. It would not absorb water except without a lot of manual labor disolving pieces with my hands and fingers. It could possibly be used for something but not for planting seedlings which was my purpose in buying it.
I am very disappointed with the size of these coco bricks. I couldn’t see the dimensions of each brick in the product information. They are one-third the size of what I ordered last time. Judging from the price,‘I expected to receive the size bricks of my previous order. Unclear (buried) or missing information that was misleading.
