Went online and determined which smoke detector I wanted, which was supposed to be in stock at the store. It wasn't. Returned home and ordered online and was delivered the next morning. These do not need to have the batteries replaced yearly. Saves a lot of money and time.
As I am in my mid-70s I wanted to forget about replacing batteries in smoke detectors. We have six of them in our home. It's getting more and more dangerous to get up on the ladders. This product with a 10-year battery life fits the bill. However, in my case as I was replacing other smoke detectors I needed a special connector. This was a $5 item and was very easy to install. The connector is made by Kidde also
I had to replace my smoke alarms as it had been 10 years since I had installed them. I had purchased Kidde products in the past and have been very satisfied with them. So I purchased 3 of these smoke alarms and had them installed. I watched them being installed and it looked like quite a simple process. Fast and easy and they were in! Now I can have peace of mind for another 10 years!!
These are high quality smoke detectors. I was looking for hard-wired detectors with 10 year sealed lithium batteries. These meet those requirements. They seem too pricey to me. However, all of the less expensive models used 9 volt batteries, with their annoying annual replacement needs.
Smoke detectors are good quality, and I like the 10 year sealed battery. Also like the protective covers, I'm even keeping them for the future if I ever work on drywall or painting to cover them up while work being done in the home. Only negative is they are very sensitive near a bathroom. I have one several feet from the bathroom door, and after someone takes a shower and opens the door, the steam sets the alarm off. No other alarm I've had ever did that. These seem very sensitive to steam, thinking it is smoke.
Smoke Detectors have a recommended 10 year lifespan. The units sent to me are already two years old. There fore, they had already lost one quarter of their value prior to shipping.
I have had this smoke detector for less than a month. The first time it went off due to a bit of smoke in the kitchen from baking, it would not stop no matter how long I pressed the button. I disconnected and took it outside, it still would not stop. I tried for 10 min, fanning it around outside, and it still would not stop. Finally, I permanently disabled it. I am very disappointed it didn't even last a month before malfunctioned.
This detector lasted just over 90 days. It malfunctioned, and the only way to stop it from beeping was to use the permanently disable feature. It was a complete waste of money. not being able to access the internal battery is an issue. I would avoid purchasing this.
Don't waste your time. These products are very faulty and do not last a month. They do not reset and will continuously alarm. Even had the fire department verify there is no smoke present. Buy a different brand. I've been on hold with Kidde more than 1 and half waiting to speak to a representative. These are a money grab by this company.
Would not recommend these smoke detectors. Bought two, failed within 2 months. Replaced and the next two failed within three months. Alarms would just randomly turn on in the middle of the night, tried resetting would work for a little while then go off again in the middle of the night for no reason.
